Heys guys, so its been about three months, my 04 R1 has been off the road, its winter and i been overseas. My tires are starting to turn purple blue type colour on the surface, mainly on the sides. I have seen this before and believe its because of lack of heat. If i get heat into them am i safe for a track day?? They are about 85% tred, so they are still kinda new tires. Pirelli Super corsa pro's by the way.

Your Tires Should Be Ok, As Long As They Don't Have Too Many Heat Cycles In Them. That Coloring Is Just On The Surface And As Soon As You Turn A Lap It Will Be Gone, However If They Have More Than 10-15 Heat Cycles In Them They're Probably Useless.

ok cool man thanks. Although, what do you mean by heat cycles, do you mean amount of times this has happened with the same tire??? Its the first time its happened on these tires, and i just left them sit their for the 3 months. Should be fine then yeah?

by 'heat cycles' he means the number of times the tire has been brought up to temp. then allowed too cool. Too many of these will have adverse effects on tire performance (ie grip). May want to get some tire warmers if you plan on doing several track days.....this way the whole day at the track will put only one heat cycle on your tires.

I have done 6 or 7 heat cycles then, the last track day i done i did about 6 or 7 sessions with no tire warmers. I now have tire warmers so ill be def using them next track day. Thanks alot for the advise guys:thumbup
