Replace brakes on 03' R1

I was wondering how to replace brakes on an 2003 R1??? It says in the service manual that you have to loosen the bleeder screw on the caliper. Is it necessary to have to loosen it cuz I don't wanna let air into the system and have to bleed the system??? Any ideas??
