I was looking to get some more 10w-40 Amsoil but hadn't been really impressed with it (engine making more noise and clunking shifting since swapping to Amsoil after Mobile quit the 15-50 a couple years ago). So, Just on a whim, I went to their site and... http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_15W-50_.aspx Does anybody know if this is the same stuff? if it is, I'm going to buy about 50 gal! Thanks! :rock Corey

On that Mobil 1 website they show a motorcycle specific 10w40. Why not just use that?

I've been using Amsoil 10w-40 since the redcap went away and I'm not impressed with it. Too much noise and harder to shift. Plus... The cost. The Red Cap was a few bucks a quart vs. almost $8 a quart. Loved that stuff. I may have to contact Mobile 1 to find out if the oil is the same product! Corey

I've never seen any synth oil for less than 8-9 bucks a quart. Please show me where I can get Mobil 1 for a few bucks a quart.

Because i have tons of red caps in the garage, and just looked on amsoil website, and they still sell red cap 10w 40. :dunno

Did you use the 15w 50 in the R1? If so did it smooth out the shifting any? or quiet the engine at all?

Why are you comparing a 10W-40 oil to a 15W-50 oil ? You are a whole range apart. Go to the AMSOIL 20W-50 Product Code MCV. At least you would be comparing similar products.. Your bike calls for a 10W-40 from the OEM.. Using a higher viscosity oil will not give you any better protection and in fact will cause a loss of HP, loss of fuel mileage and elevated oil temps. Doc
