Sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't find anything on the forums.
I am having huge problems trying to get the engine oil filler cap off so I can refill my oil. The service manual says it needs a special wrench (no clue where to get that). I called up local shops and they say just use a large flathead screw driver. Tried that, all that accomplished was tearing the hell out of the cap and not moving it one degree.
Another guy told me there was a special socket set at Sears that could do the job, went there, nobody had any clue and I couldn't find shit.
I am about to ****ing sell my bike, I have been trying to get this cap off for 2 days and I just can't do it. Probably one of the worst engineering design decisions I have ever seen in an automotive product.
Does anyone have any tricks or any ideas where to get the correct to get the oil cap off.

Order a cap from the 02-03 R1 when you get that one off if you don't like it.
Use a wrench about 13mm should open it

I can't seem to get it open with the 13mm wrench. I tried bracing the wrench in the recess of the cap and then bang on it with a mallet...

Turn the bike up side down after draining the oil and pour the oil in through the drain hole.

On my 04 I had a similar issue, I used a plumber's wrench to take the fill cap off.

I then purchased a new, no tools required, fill cap on eBay.
