01 R1 oil concernsigma962 09-17-2008, 08:02 PM Anyone tell me how often I should need to add oil? I changed my oil to Repsol 10-40 synthetic about 800 miles ago and needed to add about 6 oz today. Light came on and it was just at bottom of sight glass. Any similar issues? Remedies? Should this cause some concern?

The amount being used by yours doesn't seem to be a cause for alarm.
Just keep a close eye on it. Sharksawyer 09-18-2008, 01:55 PM Last time my oil light came on, I added 4 ounces. I went about 600 miles til the light came on again so that equates to about 7 ounces per 1000 miles. Bike has 24,000 miles. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. Get a good reference and monitor how much you burn. If it's a lot, maybe a rebuild is in order.
