Hey guys n gals, I couldn't find an appropriate section to post this. I was hoping to get some recommendations for high res, high frames per sec helmet cameras? Hopefully camera's that people have bought and are really happy with, and maybe highlighting their camera's particular features? Cheers!

Hey guys, I just wanted to offer an alternative here. I bought this system from one of the forum sponsors for a song compaired to most of the systems out there. More info here: http://www.cedigital.com/xcart/home.php?cat=75 Another forum member asked me to post some pics of how I set it up so here are some: http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71038.jpg You can mount the DVR anywhere you want, and as you can see I have no room on my tripples. Because I wanted it easily accesable and very visable so I can opperate on the fly this is where I put it. I was able to use a digital camera case I had come a Sony Cybershot. Tight fit but it does the trick. I mounted the case to a part of a mounting strip of metal (that came with a radar detector that I have for the bike) that I bend to shape and keeps it upright above and off of my GPR stabalizer. Put a little piece of rubber under it so it doesn't scratch up my tank. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71039.jpg This is the cable that connects the DVR with the bullet cam and the battery pack. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71040.jpg This is a cigaret lighter for a motorola phone I hooked up to keep it powered up. I'm still not sure I can keep it hooked up while the unit is in use but it definately will charge it when it's not in use. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71043.jpg I mounted the bullet cam under the front fairing. I couldn't put it behind the windscreen because mine isn't see through. If you look close, you can see a very small and narrow strip of velcro on the bottom of the bullet cam which I use to use to mount to the top of my helmet. If you look at my avitar, you can see it on the upper right side of my helmet. Difficult to use there because I had to run all the cables down the back of my leather jacket and being on your helmet makes for a difficult lineup for steady shots. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71046.jpg This is a battery pack I put inside a cell phone case under my passenger seat just to prevent it from knocking around. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71048.jpg The battery pack runs the cam itself so you have to disconnect it when not in use otherwise it will run down the batteries even if the DVR is not on. As you can see I wrap up the batteries in electrical tape and a zip tie just to make sure they stay in place. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71049.jpg

Thanks for the recommendation! I have seen a lot of creativity with mounting and yours is pretty slick! It looks like you are using it well as a training tool, because you were hauling the mail on there! I have some racing vids I made with the system here (http://www.meisterracing.com)

I have some racing vids I made with the system here (http://www.meisterracing.com) Thanks Bill for the comps also. Yes, I'm using it for my own training actually. That is other than what anyone else may get out of my own videos. But by going over the videos, I'm more able to see what I"m doing right and wrong and where I can improve. I did do a few videos up at the GAP for the 08 convention as well. I still need to edit them and will probably post them soon too. I dont think there are going to be as good because I shot those with the cam on my helmet. You should post the racing videos you have in a new thread. You should also add on the credits that they were shot with your system and make them into some kind of link to your web site. Make me an offer I can't refuse and I'll do the same for ya. :lol By the way, BILL here is the man at CE-Digital for those who didn't figure that out yet. Thanks again for the system Bill! :thumbup

I'm posting this pic again out of a request from someone interested in seeing the mount I made for the DVR that came with my system. Like I said in an earlier post above, I used a thin, long strip of metal that has pre punched holes along it's lengnth to mount the DVR. In this pic I have removed the DVR from the Sony Cybershot case I used to hold it in order to show the strip of metal I"m using for a mount and how I bent it to be able to mount under the allen bolt that mounts the fuel tank at the very front to the frame (in my case under part of my GPR stabalizer mount). I bent the strip to form a small tab to attache under that bolt then run striaght up along side the front of the fuel tank then above it high enough to rest the DVR against. I then bent it downward at an angle to reach just under the camera case where it has a tripod mounting hole and I stuck a very shallow properly threaded screw through the strip into the camera case where I put the DVR and finsihed it with a small piece of scrap rubber weather strip so that screw doesn't scratch up my tank. Boy I hope all that makes sense! http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w324/billyscotth/Other/STH71050.jpg

I really like your setup with the camera Storm Trooper, nice video footage by the way too. I think your mount location is excellent, it is low and it looks really fast. I am tryin to be patient and look at all alternatives...I suck at patience though. Where did you put the microphone?

I routed it down underneith the tool kit under the pasenger seat or in my case the solo seat and just above the factory wire hole going through the bottom rear of the tail section for the stock turn signals/ plate light. I wanted to make sure it wasn't in the wind that you always hear on track videos and I wanted to hear the sound of the bike. So I figured get it as close to the pipes as possible.

Does the kit come with a mounting harness for the camera? I want to replicate your camera position....like it very much. Thanx for the advice. Sure does. That little clip mount I have the cam itself running through under the front fairing comes with the kit along with a much larger wall type mount that really isn't made for bike mounting. You do want to make sure your cam is looking straight before screwing it into the fairing though. Just move it back and forth, up and down until you find just the right camera angle. Then mark and drill a couple of starter holes then mount. You may want to mark the camera so when your turn it on, the picture isn't upside down. My little velcro strip shows me which is up and down. Once it's mounted and wired up, turn on the DVR and adjust the cam if you need to. Good luck.

In case some of you were still undecided on which to buy...bullet cam or camcorder, Here are a couple of movies I made with my camera from CEDigital while riding with some buddies. Second video I didn't mount the bullet right so its jittery...my bad. Watch it in high quality so it does the little guy some justice. Hope you enjoy the footage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wajnvBI1ZDs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrKpuRAFi6I

I'm late to the party but I've actually seen this camera: http://www.goprocamera.com/ It's cheaper, no wires, great vid. I think one of the best features it has is vibration reduction. Unless you want something permanently placed on your moto this might be a good alternative.

i've tried to use gopro... the lcd on it didn't work to let you know which mode you were in. the quality wasn't that great in comparison when it did record. the ce digital doesn't have to be permanant as it comes with a mount that you can adapt to multi-fit to the bike. price vs quality really though.

i finally got around to putting the camera on the bike as well as finding a way to make it versitile. all the guts of the battery and cable connections fit nicely under the seat. i have some poly-vinyl tape that i use for the track which holds well. made it tab like to the tape and stuck the camera with zipties and tie mounts to it. the camera can be rotated to achieve level ground. with the tape i can pull it up, reverse shoot, or completely reposition elsewhere. i have yet to make a mount for the dvr and will just tape it to the top of the tank for now. unfortunately the weather sucks outside to test it. should be sweet when i do. storm trooper, what type of cybershot case is it that you have? i can't find anything close to it in the stores.

It's an old Sony Cybershot case. It was for the first model that came out. I dont know if they still sell it but your better off finding something else that may fit it. Or just velcrowing the DVR where you seam to have it now.

so i finally got the camera on the bike. did some riggin (tape) to hold the recorder. pretty happy with the way the mount held on for the bullet cam. the first vid test came out ok. although i you-tubed it, it came out a little weird on that website. the other two vids were decent but with the low sun angle it saturated the bullet for a while turning the sky purple. i'm pretty much set to get new videos, what video software is good for editing? here is the youtube link... sorry for the sound (i need to work on tweeking it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrW591x5oTU

I like your mount position for your videos, I think I may duplicate the location you chose:yesnod. Have any pics of the mount on your bike? The best place to put the microphone is under your rear seat or seat cowl so its close to your exhaust and out of the way of wind noise. Windows movie maker comes with most computers and the editing software isn't bad at all. I edited most of them using that software. Check out my youtube channel... Willbozr1 Watch em in high quality

i have the location and position of the cam a few reply's above with a photo. the mic is under the seat and i think the problem with the sound recorded was that the dvr volume wasn't at 0 as the instructions say (remembered after taking the vid). over the holidays i'll have more opportunities to perfect it. over all i am really happy with it.

So I mocked your camera angle nomad. It turned out pretty well too. I had to order a new microphone since my wife's dog ate the fuzz of the mic before I ever got to use my camera when I first got it. The new micrpohone sounds decent when the bike is high in the rpm range. Check it out, just a little test run. That was my first attempt at the disc angle. Whenever I can get my brother to find time to ride with me I should do that, "his ass will stay behind me anyway:scoots:" I use Windows movie maker.
