Does the oil go through the filter before reaching the engine?

Does the oil go through the filter before reaching the engine? The R1 engine is a wet sump system with a single one way oil flow! The oil flows in a loop through the pump, into the oil cooler, then the filter, the crankcase, the gearbox and the head!

No, I just did the genius move of stripping the oil plug. I got it out and did the helio coil install. I tried flushing out all the shavings and bits by pouring about a half quart of oil through the system. I was just wondering, if whatever is left will go directly to the engine, or if the oil gets filtered first.

I understand. The best way to sort out that problem is to take off the pan and clean it out. In fact I am pretty sure that if you do it now you will see deposits there!
