hmmm...might look like you dumped it and were too lazy to replace them. I would pick up an extra set of stockies just in case.

@Swimmer:

I just had a boot for lunch. During a formation, he wanted to look around and adjust his cover while at attention. So the DI in me came out after wards and I ripped him a new one. I made sure that I had plenty of spit in my mouth that ended up on his face. Then I handed him over to his platoon sergeant, who is a notoriously mad individual.

That made my day.

haha, that sh!t's always a good day. makes you feel like you accomplished something. Glad you decided to man up and not get made fun of at the track:hammer::hammer::hammer:

Yeah, so I need to vent.

I'm still technically at work. I'm the battalion duty driver for today. I haven't had to drive once, but it means that I can't ride, I can't have a beer, I can't really do anything. Thankfully the OOD in charge is a cool dude, and so I've just been sitting around in PT gear instead of cammies, but damn. I really wanted to go to cycle gear today, so that I can go to Ortega tomorrow. If I'm off at noon like is supposed to happen, then that will be the best time to go up there. I can still go, but damn, now I have to pick which to hit first.

And the other beef is that I drove Saturday for the battalion, and whoever is making the list is jack ass. I mean, thankfully its not on a week end again, but damn.

...lesson learned

I was told tonight by the head tech from local reputable shop that came to my house to oversee me fix my problem....used to work for Yamaha....part of the huge cost of new bikes is that EVERYTHING in the motor is constructed by hand with VERY accurate hand torque tools to specs. That's why our rides work so well....and costly.

As I was putting in the anodized stator cover bolts, he laughed and said "a caring shop would use a hand held torque meter to 6ish something torque."

Learning curve....don't over torque unless with needed pneumatic.

I.E. I torqued the shiate out of my new rotor bolt today and he stepped in to finish it off.

Hey ya'll in the Diego area or close. I was chatting with my buddy who worked on my bike....ex Yamaha tech.....and he would be game for doing some work for needy individuals. Albeit, this is not a free type of tech meet, but he would do it here in my garage (Point Loma) and would charge a reduced rate. This is the type of genius guy that can put a complete 50 lb. wiring harness into a Gold Wing. Just a thought, but if this would be a benefit to some of you, we can put something together sometime.:dunno

I was up at Mateo for about a year and a half, and then went to work for the General before moving to the wing and PCSing back to the east coast. Life is MUCH different the further you are from mainside :fact

Yeah, I imagine so. Thankfully Camp Horno is nice and far from mainside, and is a pure infantry camp. It has its perks and its pits. Their are next to no WM's here, which is nice. But, the only women that are here on a regular basis work at the PX, and have crabs with herpes. Other than that, if you see a chick here, she's lost.

Horno was a little better than Mateo for Exchange purposes. I'd take my Marines there for lunch every once in a while. Mateo is dead quiet and foggy until about noon. Great PT area though.

Oh.... and it's EXPLODING crabs with herpes :lol

Horno's the same way. It literally sits in a bowl formed by the mountains. I love it when I'm about to go riding and it'll be overcast and nasty till I get to either SOI or Pulgas, and all of the sudden its sunny.

I can't run with my current condition (Ti bolts in the knee) and I honestly don't miss running up and down the damn mountains out here.

That's one reason I only wear my one piece when I'm on a track or seriously turning up the pace.

How's the fit coming along?

Red Ballz
04-20-2009, 07:56 AM
Now that I am used to them, its not bad. I still plan on getting them fitted when I can spare the change. And we were setting a good pace yesterday. When we were on the way back, once we got on a regular high way, I stood up on the bike, just to let the air flow over my nuts. But, after I got home, having had them on for 9 hrs, I was a little stinky.

how difficult is it to just replace the peg?

bunnyrbt
04-21-2009, 05:33 PM
You mean the bracket? You're going to have to replace that. Can't imagine it will be too hard to swap everything off the old one to the new one.

Swimmer160
04-21-2009, 05:39 PM
i looked at it, not hard to take off the peg. I found one on ebay, but it was missing the peg.

bunnyrbt
04-21-2009, 05:47 PM
I would do that just be careful not to strip any of the bolts or mess the spring up so you don't have to replace any of them.

Swimmer160
04-21-2009, 06:11 PM
it looks pretty simple, no bolts, just a pin that's holding it in pretty much.

Swimmer160
04-21-2009, 07:50 PM
right side rear-set
upper fairing stay
hole in the lower right fairing
slight bend in the exhaust mount
headlight assembly mounts

luckily i have a spare headlight assembly new in box, and the rest is just scratches.

and there's a dent in the side of the tank that I'm going to try to fix

Well, leave it to the MC to get in the way of all that is good. I may not be able to do the track day coming up on Monday. Swimmer160
04-22-2009, 07:03 PM

I get to head over to the Lee Park's class in the morning. Hopefully, I can snag a spot. I figure if I get there around 6 or so I should be fine. Here's to hopefully getting two days off work.:drunk:

Any other riders that are on here, and stationed at pendleton need to come. It'll be at the 16 area LZ. In the words of another, "just look for all the bikes"

DanQ

yeah, pm me too, I'm curious and I'll send out some e-mails to try to get the situation rectified and let you know if you can get off.

*jealous @ Red Ballz*

@bunny: no I haven't found any other rear sets that are used on ebay, just new adjustables for like $300. there is one other set on there but it's for like $70 shipped, and that's if the guy that bid on it doesn't have his max bid set at like $60.

couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time...

bunnyrbt
04-22-2009, 08:49 PM

joe.blackr1

the cvc states that nothing can be attached to the helmet that comes off of the helmets surface (chatter boxes, mohawks, ect) are allowed to be worn due to an increased possiblity of the helmet bouncing... thus creating extra ordingary dmg to the helmet, reducing its effeiency... BUT if you read the cvc like i did then you will find a gray area... if it were to be valcro'ed to ones jacket then it is no longer in violation of this code... PMO said they do not like this and would rather do away with it but can not supercide the cvc...

Swimmer160

once I get the stay and the rear set, the rest is just a little elbow grease.

Start saving your pennies for Vortex or Gilles. Like many other things, once you go in that direction, you'll never go back. Pegs won't scrape (unless you go boom again) and your riding stance for aggressive (track) riding is greatly improved. Plus they look great:thumbup

I have one of those that goes on the tank I found at the track. I'll give it too you for free. Now you need another. The rest of the decals can come from Sal.

OK, I was backing you...and not in that way.:flex:

If I understand correctly, you would be the first one in line up to be chosen for "hot male R1 rider award".

Let's get back to being on the same side. Regarding my panties, NO, I'll have Candice's pulled off in a wad shortly:makeout

Hey Gang,

I was surfing the net and I noticed this add on CL. I tend to do a fair bit of my own work. Tires, oil changes, etc. This seems like it might be a decent option if your coming back from a wreck or just hate squatting on the ground to get your oil drain plug undone.

Located in San Diego, just a block off of Miramar Road.

5828 Autoport Mall

I have never been there and I stand nothing to gain if you take advantage of it. Just something I found that might be of use for Dragons in the San Diego area.

MODS feel free to move this as you see fit.
