gilman 04-24-2009, 07:06 PM Yeah, I am debating using it too. I was thinking to take advantage of an upcoming tire sale at Cycle Gear they are having a sale coming up for some decent sport tires around $180 for a set. :secret: At that price I could afford to run'em for 3K miles and toss'em out if I didn't like them.
Put them on here and while the bike is up on the lift do a little cleaning with the plastics off. I hate doing that bent over in my garage.
-Gilman
bunnyrbt 04-24-2009, 07:12 PM That's a great find gilman
gilman 04-24-2009, 07:32 PM Not really sure how great a find it is. I have yet to visit there. I just hung up the phone with a friend and he reminded me that I have an all access backstage pass to the Auto Hobby Shop on MCAS and they have a bike jack/stand there for use as well...and of course the price is pretty much free for me. One of the few benifits to being in the "Canoe Club".
I wonder if the trade off would be having motorcycle specific tools on hand would make the first place more attractive?
-Gilman
joe.blackr1 04-24-2009, 07:36 PM might be... wont have to do all the work at once... and you can do et on ur time 300 am or 1200 noon... (if you have a garage)
bunnyrbt 04-24-2009, 07:43 PM Having a place like that with the right tools for those that don't have a garage is a good thing I think depending on how knowledgeable the staff is there and if the parts are reasonably priced. I wouldn't do it for an oil change but for big jobs it might be worth it.
Red Ballz 04-24-2009, 09:53 PM How are all my dragons doing this evening?
I just finished the Lee Park's level 2 stuff. It was damn cool, and I've got a copy of his book that he signed for me. I would definitely say that I learned a lot there, and got to practice stuff that I don't normally practice on the streets.
And I've got a track day at 9 in the morning. So, I'm going to bed in a little. Ought to be a great day, and a chance to really use the stuff I learned today.
Also, I am one smelly bastard right now. I had my leathers on for 15 hrs, from 6 am till 9 pm.
@swimmer: Those leathers are BA looking!
On Paint: I would say stick with the stock coloring, but play around with photoshop and see if you like it. Or send me a good pic and I can see what I can do.
Swimmer160 04-24-2009, 10:22 PM i've messed around a little in photoshop and darkened up the mid's and it really doesn't look too bad. I dunno, I'll figure it out over this weekend. NC House called me and said my paint's in so I'm gonna go pick that up and then get some sandpaper. I'm gonna try to at least get the lower fairings done tomorrow.
sl33pyriceboi 04-25-2009, 12:12 AM keep it candy red swimmer...... it looks weird if a diff color..
im off to bed guys and gals.....good night dragons

it would be candy, that's not what I'm changing. What I'm thinking of changing is the flat red mid fairing, I'm thinking about making them candy red. still debating!
Red Ballz 04-25-2009, 08:00 AM @Swimmer:
I'm off to the track. You should come up there to at least get some pics. :)
bearclaw28 04-25-2009, 08:26 AM that privateers garage is pretty nice, just they charge a little too much for my tastes, i either like free or damn close to it.
Red Ballz 04-25-2009, 09:45 PM Well, today was awesome as expected. We had a good turn out today I thought. Of the 36 that signed up for the track day, 24 showed. But, another 15 came out to fill the open spots. So we had a beginner group with 16, an intermediate group with 15, and the expert group with 8 including myself. Some of the guys in the beginner group were to good for it, and if intermediate had any openings they should have moved up. But, some probably shouldn't have been out there in the first place. Like the guys on busa's...
The expert group rocked the house as to be expected. We had a lot of fun, and because there were so few of us, it really opened the field up some more. There was one a$$hole on his little 450 dirt bike with supermotard wheels and slicks that ate every one alive in the twisties. He would top out 5th gear before eve reaching the end of the straight, while I was just pushing the limiter in 3rd at the braking markers. Naturally, he didn't even stand a chance there. I was having fun power wheeling every time I got the chance. Coming off the 180's into the straights, I'd be in first and would grab it, bringing the front right up. The only way I was staying in the chicane was shifting to second to bring the front down. My performance out there was a lot better than the last time. The Lee Parks deal definitely improved my technique and confidence.
We had 3 mishaps. Two were in the beginner groups. One went to hot into a turn, and it got him. Another got on the throttle too hard, too fast, and incorrectly, and got bit coming off a turn. The last was in the expert group, and while I didn't see it (I was on the other end of the track), I talked to him after wards to get a run down. As he was going down the straight in 4th, if not 5th (gsxr 6), he hit the brakes and down shifted hard for the 180 at the end of it. He must have popped the clutch with out balancing out the revs, or he just selected a gear way too low (1st) and the back tire started skipping on him. He incorrectly assumed that he could make the turn, and the back went right out from underneath him. That effectively ended the day right there, there was debris everywhere from it, he went down hard, but walked away (leathers are awesome). Thankfully it was more than half way through the last session of the day.
Again, it was a great day. There were quite a few people taking pictures, so I should have them by next Monday.
Oh, and this makes me really want to go with steel braided brake lines. They get a little squishy when you mash them on at 130 to try and get down to 40 as quickly as possible.
Swimmer160 04-25-2009, 10:44 PM damn man I wish I could'a been out there, did they change the setup from last time? or was it the same thing. I'm going to pick up the paint tomorrow and get the lowers sanded and painted. I don't know if I'm going to reshape the nose fairing, I got it off last night and it's kinda rough. I found a new nose fairing on here for $60 shipped so I might just go with that and have one as a spare, try to reshape and sell. We'll see.
BTW, Anyone have experience in painting, I'm picking up the paint to touch up my scratches and I want it to be as even as possible, so some advice would be appreciated.
sl33pyriceboi 04-25-2009, 11:02 PM ^check egay for teh nose fairings. im lookign for them as well (i need 04-06) but the thing is, i see plenty of 07-08 ones

see that's funny, cuz I've been looking on here and have seen shitloads of 04-06 partouts. Luckily I found someone parting out a red 08, so I got lucky to pick up the nose for that.
sl33pyriceboi 04-25-2009, 11:15 PM dude i been searching day n night for a rear upper tail section and a nose section for my 06. dont really care if there are scratches on it because i will do body work n paint it all white. just no cracks...
if u see some let me know... (even though im frantically searching egay for em)

It was the same thing as last time. I had no objections to that as I enjoyed it a lot. One of the coaches from down at the base motorcycle safety suggested that we run it backwards, to which I replied that I'd seen to much Nascar for that to make any sense.:lol
Doing paint is really easy. The aluminum on mine would've turned out better had I spent money on decent paint and taken a little more time on it. The spade I did in about 15 min, for both sides. I don't know if you can wet sand rattle cans, but if you can that will make all the difference. If anything, sanding it down to a real fine grit will help a lot. Start will a nice coarse grit, and step up finer and finer to about a 500. if you can wet sand it, use a 600 or so for that. And remember not to put on a lot of paint. Do it slowly and sparingly and it will come out well. The white on mine came out really good because I did that second, and corrected the mistakes that I made on the aluminum.

so after I paint it and get all that dried, then wet send it to even out the edges of the paint? doesn't make too much sense to me, but I guess if it works it works.
sl33pyriceboi 04-26-2009, 11:41 AM ^what kinda paint are you using?
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ get it from these guys and just get the color of ur bike.
first, sand the panel down with 400-600grit until everything gets rough.
second clean/wash it real well to get all the stuff off.
third PRIMER it the whole panel. make light layers.
fourth sand the primer with 800grit to get a smooth but rough surface.
fifth clean it, let it dry, then primer it again.
sixth LIGHTLY sand it down now with 1000grit
seventh let it dry, and make sure not a single speck of dust/crap is on it
eighth test spray the base color (ur red color) on something else to get the paint flow going so it wont have that first initial SPLAT!
ninth spray the base coat (ur red paint) on. (note: you want 3 light layers with about 8-12inches from the spray nozzel to the panel)
note: depending on the directions of the paint and the clear, you either have to either spray the clear while it still kinda wet or when it flash dries.
tenth spray the clear on. again 3 light coats.
at this point, ur painted surface should be super smooth and glossy (like the rest of ur bike) if not, (if ur really anal) wet sand the clearcoat lightly with 2000grit and put a polishing compound on it and polish it!
lexanidubs09 04-26-2009, 12:25 PM i'm too lazy to go through the whole 200 pages of posts so i'm just gonna ask, hows things goin with your girl Lex, everything end up working it self out or is that a no from the post i read about you goin to vegas..... i just wish stuff would fix itself between me and mine, she gave me some crap about "its not you its me" cause she's havin a hard time keeping everythin in track between school, work and me.
Hey brotha, sorry it took so long to reply i was outta town in vegas and just got back. Stuff between me and her is done... We broke up and didn't talk for about 2 months she called me up begging me to talk to her and try and figure shit out... So we started "talking" and trying to figure some stuff out... She is a completely different person... I'm not going to bad talk her to everyone on here.. But lets just say that her current friends are dragging her in the wrong directions as far as choices go... She doesn't seem to think she has a problem... But she does... I can tell you because i've been there and doen that.... She is ruining her life for a little bit of fun with friends... I tried telling her that she needs to stop doing this shit and she snapped at me so we split again... This time im assuming for good... I can't get involved in all that shit again... If it's meant to be it'll be... But as for now i can't ruin my life and what i have going for me right now because i wanna date a girl that has those problems... Sorry to hear you and your girl are still going through problems man... Honestly the more you go out with buddies the less you have on your mind... I'm having a blast being single right now... But yes, i do miss her :( You know if you ever need to talk you can always pm me and i'll give ya my number and shit man :thumbup

awesome, however, a couple things. I'm not repainting the whole bike, just parts of the fairings, and the paint that I got is from color rite (OEM Paint). Also, because it's a candy paint the paint is in 2 stages, a base coat and top coat. I asked the guys that I got the paint from about using a primer coat and top coat and I guess it's included in the paint compound. So I would use the 2000 grit to even out the paint from the new surface to the old surface, because I'm sure there will be a slight line from where I had it taped.
I appreciate the advice, thanks.

i got a little bit of spray time, i did bike not too long ago, just a simple single color black with some clear over it, i picked up a spray gun and compresser for cheap when i was in the process of painting mine, i don't live too far away from you either, your up by pen. while i'm south on the airstation.

cool, when I get to sprayin just little parts I'm gonna have to hit you up.
I sanded down one of my mid-fairings and put the first coat of the base coat down. I should have it done tonight, hopefully I do this right. I think this is gonna look pretty pimp, I haven't seen any pure stripper red R1's around, only the flat red mid fairing.
I like being different:):):)
Red Ballz 04-26-2009, 07:15 PM Now what I want to see is a stripper on a red R1, that would make my day.

Swimmer160 04-26-2009, 10:09 PM word up...
2 coats of red on, about 1-2 more and one fairing will be done...looks good so far!
update...shit, i made a slight error and now I have a couple drips in the paint, anyone know of any easy way to get rid of them? would wet sanding with 600 grit not work? I've also got 360 grit, would that be better? everything else looks good, I just need to unfvck my fvck up....shit....
Red Ballz 04-26-2009, 11:03 PM Wet sanding is the only way to get rid of the runs in the paint.
bearclaw28 04-27-2009, 10:54 AM yeah, red is right, wet sanding is the only way to fix it, but not with 600, your gonna want something a little higher grit, like 1000, just don't sand too much, either way its gonna take another coat of red. you are clear coating it all right?
Swimmer160 04-27-2009, 04:31 PM yeah, red is right, wet sanding is the only way to fix it, but not with 600, your gonna want something a little higher grit, like 1000, just don't sand too much, either way its gonna take another coat of red. you are clear coating it all right?
yeah I talked to a buddy of mine at work who does bodywork and said it's no biggie, to just wet sand it and it will all even out. he said it's pretty common to get inconsistencies when painting. as far as clear coating, I will see once I finish up the last of the coats, when I talked to the guys when I ordered the paint I was told that I didn't need to with this paint. I'm still slightly skeptical about that, so I'll see what it looks like when I'm done with the last coat and if it looks like it needs the clear, then I'll do it. I think I'm gonna be needing another can of this though because I wasn't expecting on doing my mid fairings too when I got the stuff, so Red Ballz you should come pick up some new tires!:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
Red Ballz 04-27-2009, 05:57 PM Still waiting on payday to roll around. Tires, steel braided brake lines in the front, and an oil change. Its going to be a fun weekend.
All this talk about paint makes me want to repaint mine again. I saw a bike with the flying tiger style mouth on it and I think I can do better. So I might do that soon. If I do it, then I'll just can it. Its much simpler that way, and I can do it in the parking lot here at the barracks.
@swimmer: Do you have a power sander by chance? It makes it so much faster to strip it.
Hey Red Ballz: read your post about the Pendleton track day. Are they looking into getting a group of you up to Willow or anything? Good tracks nearby. And it you want to take a trip way up north there is Laguna. That was the track that did it for me. A little bit of everything.
Keep it up and keep having fun. It's good to see. Especially since the Corps is FINALLY taking an interest in supporting sport bike riders.
Now I'll probably lose my job :lol
Swimmer160 04-27-2009, 07:17 PM The Corps really is starting to give more training and opportunities to the motorcycle riders. Alot more people have been buying and after last year and the amount of deaths, they're putting much more training in place for us, and it's phenomenal.
Red Ballz: I dont' have a power sander, but I've got a sanding block with a variety of different grits, better than nothing. I'm about to go wet sand down the paint drips and smooth everything out.
I'll take pics if I finish tonight.

Yeah, they are. Many of us have been screaming for years about it. The attitude is changing (I'll have to post what I was told by my SgtMaj about where I must park when I was stationed in Pendleton).
Thing we can do to make it better is start doing the training and stop crashing on Ortega etc.
bunnyrbt 04-27-2009, 08:22 PM So anyone want to do my homework for me?
Swimmer160 04-27-2009, 08:23 PM man, wet sanding's tougher than I thought, I took off a little more paint then I wanted, but not too bad, I got the runs out. Few more good coats and one side should be done, then It's just time to polish and see how she looks.
*crossing my fingers*

It's not like you actually want to learn about that stuff for real do you? :crash

bunnyrbt 04-27-2009, 08:36 PM No I really don't the college thinks I need to though.
I wish I could just do that though :lol
Red Ballz 04-27-2009, 09:41 PM @Dan:
Yeah, they talked about a real track day, but I think it'll be better just to organize something on the low. The guy that races for moto forza was out there again, and suggested that we get people together and rent streets for a day. It runs a few thousand, but if enough people are down, and front the cash, then it'll be great. The only problem with these track days is that the word isn't being passed down effectively. We had 24 of the 45 that signed up show. We had another 15 get in on standby, but more people need to know about this.
But, yes, the Corps is starting to take a proactive stance on motorcycling. There were more deaths last year, DoD wide, due to motorcycles than the war in Iraq, and most of those weren't PFC's and LCPL's, but Staff's and up. They are starting to realize that they aren't going to change aggressive riding in a lot of riders, but they can make sure that they at least learn skills and techniques that will keep them alive and keep them from learning them on the street where it's sadly pass or fail most of the time. Also, their are a lot of cruiser riders that die simply from lack of better skills.
The MEF general has even talked about building a track on base for use by the riders. They have already completed the surveys of it, and are simply waiting on the go ahead and the money. That alone will cut into the number of deaths big time. If the word gets out about it.
DavidSFC 04-27-2009, 09:44 PM So, finally getting to this, here's the deal:dundun:
I left the "family being sold avocado ranch" in Alpine Sunday afternoon. Intention was Borrego for my favorite (the best) taco shop. Chicken flauta por favor:thumbup
I purposely took the route I have enjoyed many from Julian to Borrego, the same 4/19 ride enjoyed. Yes, Banner grade is VERY tight and there are RV's and jackass' coming the other way. Not the highway to fvck around on.
Once you get passed the grade, there is the long beautiful desert straight highway we all dream of. In as much as I don't need issue and shit has been happening there, I resisted the urge to feed my right wrist.
Going over the hump in the middle of that stretch at a cruising speed I thought chillin'....cars at 70 prior, I encounter Mr. CHP. Radar on and very well hidden....no way to tell.
I immedieately pull over and start getting pissed at myself as to this mishap.
I turn off bike, remove regalia and start being honest. For example, "if I was going to open her up officer, don't you think this is the place....160 if I didn't care".
Now this story gets interesting. He is the same gentleman that gave Swimmer the zip ties after "boom", the BIG ticket to ? and was a huge part of helping the whole group.
We talked for about 45 minutes. Very cool native SD guy:thumbup He has picked up so many dead Marines off that area he is sick. We talked about the whole mentality of litre bikes...he rides desert.
In the end, I was barely over the limit, so he gave me a MPH warning BUT gave me a fix it for 9" trun signal width:dunno
We also spoke of an understanding that THE TRACK IS BEST:rock
The USMC track days are great and we all need to take it to the next level to keep guys away from troubles.
Be safe wherever...'cause law. rocks, grills f'n suck:finger
On a side note....anyone have a good RD suggestion....I need one?
gilman 04-27-2009, 09:53 PM David,
I'll call a buddy that runs one. He uses it only on Sportbikes.
There are alot of threads on the board about the topic as well search and you will find.
I have mixed feelings about them. Any time I have run one it typically means when I do get pulled over I'm getting a ticket for speed because the LEO sees the detector and pretty much assumes that I am a law breaking loser and deserve the ticket.
In your given situation I wonder how much it would have helped.
-Gilman
Red Ballz 04-27-2009, 10:03 PM That is cool that it was the same dude. I still can't believe he gave us flexicuffs!
I have nothing against most LEO's. They picked the job that makes them happy. I know a few guys that are planning on doing that when they get out. But, there are the one's that are simply douches and I can't stand them. There are just as many of them as there are douche bag marines that give everybody a bad name.
bunnyrbt 04-27-2009, 10:04 PM I thought it was pretty funny that he did. He even told us he looks for speeding bikes too as a warning.

I used to run them in my sport cars all the time and they saved my azz.
Especially in the dessert flats between SD, PHX, TUC.
Quickly take them off the dash in the midst of looking for paperwork reduced the "misunderstood intentions" approach by the officer.
As far as bikes, I see my preferred location that could be chill.
Once again...getting to be the Buddha, thinking about the track and how much power we ride in the most dangerous places:dundun:
BTW, "in my given situation" would have prevented. Upshifted to lower noise reduce. Totally mellow. 3 mi+ highway.....just had RV grey water splash on the road previously.:ugh
Swimmer160 04-27-2009, 10:41 PM yes he did, that was so cool, those things held up awesome too, stiff as hell.
as far as RD's, i've been happy with my valentine 1. I've seen a couple others (cobra, 8500, 9500) and have seen them fail where the V1 shines. yeah $400 is a price to pay, but it's probably saved me about $4k-$6k in speeding tickets in my Evo. I haven't had a chance to get it mounted to the R1 yet, but all in due time. Can't fvck around with the arrows and the bogie counter!!!
Red Ballz 04-27-2009, 11:04 PM Yeah, I probably need to get one...
How's the paint coming? And the question about the sander wasn't intended for you to try using one. I may need one.

i dont know about that one...lol
they pretty much all perform on par with each other (all the premium RD)... and its proven tests...
id love to see the V1 outperform the 9500 as detection goes...its pretty much the same.
but each to his own i guess.
bearclaw28 04-28-2009, 02:40 AM i just assume don't be stupid and don't do it, i just get away with almost everything though, gotta love running out of state plates on the bike and truck.
well to an extent, i don't go out doing stand up's on the highway, or hawl ballz at 120mph plus, or stupid stuff like that, already been there done that, got the ticket to prove it, i just wish i had a time machine to go back in time and kick my own butt to keep myself from doing the stupid things i did back then. best one however is when i got off with a warning when i touched down and dragged knee around an on ramp onto the 15 in front of a CHP.

@Dan:
Oh yes... I still get involved in the safety discussion throughout the Corps since I work for HQ and all. The numbers are bad, and a lot of effort is going into better training and regs etc (ie wearing good PPE vice just rolling down your sleeves in cammies). But it's ultimately up to us to pass the word and get others involved. Sort of a supply and demand type thing. The more we take advantage of the programs offered, the more they will support them.
I think in the near future we may see even more things offered that will make it easier for us to do this safely and affordably.
Hopefully you guys can work it and start getting to a track. As you get faster and better things like run off areas and soft barriers will become a consideration.

hit me up with your e-mail, either personal or .mil and I'll send out word and updates that I get. I tend to get them frequently and I get events and whatnots that are happening.
BTW, painting's going quite well, one fairing done (just need to polish it up), it doesn't look exactly like the other ones, but it looks pretty damn tight! I sanded down the second mid last night and will get the base coat on tonight. After those I'll get the other parts fixed up, and I just got the tracking number for the rear set and stay yesterday, so hopefully I'll be back on by mid next week! I'll post pics once it's all put back together.

Red Ballz 04-29-2009, 07:35 PM Yes, I've been putting up with all the Mr. Clean and Mein F?hrer comments for the past few days. And of course the military regs on a 'stache make it look very "SS". I'm really not sure what to do, as we had a 5 year thing, dysfunctional as can be, but still good. I know she's dating some guy that's been treating her like ass and is a complete jackass, so I guess that is what has brought this on. She keeps asking me about my plans when the Corps is done with me, and all this stuff, like she wants to get back together with me. I really don't know what to do. I love her to death, but she pissed me off to no end, which is why I stopped talking to her.

Marine Corps reg mustache will drive you crazy. Big thing is corners of the mouth and upper edge of the top lip. I kept a mustache for the whole time I was on active duty, including the time I was at MCRD (boy was THAT a challenge). Once you get used to tapering it to the corners of your mouth, it's not all that hard. Now, I just let it go. Drives all my retired SgtMaj friends crazy. But heck... most of them are still wearing reg haircuts. :dunno
I can't offer you any relationship advice. I kinda suck at it. But you could always beat the BF to a pulp and then tell her to get ahold of you when she has her head straight. :dunno
Red Ballz 04-29-2009, 07:59 PM Yeah, I'm still tempted to just not answer the phone when she calls. The only reason I picked up the first time was because I had deleted her # (right in front of her) and did not recognize it when she called.
I do feel partly guilty, well, mostly guilty for our failed relationship. I did leave her for school in Florida and told her when I was done I would move home and we would be together. Then when I finished, I said F it and left for the Marines. So it is mostly my fault, but damn. I don't know where I was going with that.
And yeah, you definitely are not one to be getting advice on women from. Unless you want to tell me your secret. I could use some strange as things with the current one are almost done.

I agree with lex, relationships that end usually end for a reason. Going back will be alright for a little bit, but things will just end up the same way, if you were unhappy then, chances are good you'll be unhappy again.

I ditched the regulation haircut the first week out. For 22 years I kept it in regs, now it just goes. But, I've never been a fan of long hair on me. I'm hispanic and italian. Long hair don't work for me. But the mustache changes monthly :lol

About the ex. I've decided that I can string her along for awhile. I'm glad we agree... I think its just a common respect not to touch another man's gf... Now if you meet this bitch at a club and she says she single... Sure go home and rail it... If you later find out she had a bf that bitch is shady and you can't do anything about it... But nothing loses my respect more than a guy that still continues to shoot game at a girl with a boyfriend...

well, i don't grow a regular mustache, where i'm at its called a det-stache. usually refering to the fact i will never grow one inless i'm away from home, last time i grew one i was on the boat, let the bad boy grow for 6 months, i looked like a petofile.:bandit

sl33pyriceboi 05-02-2009, 10:30 AM i jsut got a new helmet guys!!!
X-eleven
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/sl33pyriceboi/R1/shoeix11-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/sl33pyriceboi/R1/shoeix112.jpg
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 10:33 AM Nice lid man!!! How much you grab that one for?
sl33pyriceboi 05-02-2009, 10:37 AM well, i had plan on buying it, jsut not so soon.
cyclegear had it for 658.95+tax which would have been like 717.xx total...
but since my friend was opening a new credit card to get the 15% discount PLSU they had a 50dollar off special...
so i got it for $510 with all the taxes. plus an extra 30% off any visor. so i got the smoked visor for only 27bucks.
im happy =]
...but the wallet is saying "ouch"
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 10:40 AM You mess up yours in your crash? And thats still not a horrible price fo rthat helmet
Red Ballz 05-02-2009, 10:43 AM Yeah, Cycle Gear is trouble. I went in last night to order some of the traction pads for the sides of the tank. It lightened my wallet a little, but now I will be able to keep my nuts off the tank when going from 150 to 40 in a very aggressive manner... gotta love the track. Buts its going to take till next Friday for them to come in.
sl33pyriceboi 05-02-2009, 10:44 AM well, i checked my exo700 and it was fine. no cracks or rips on the shell. but i rather not test it out on a fall again. (i guess cuz i was kinda brought up with the idea of once a helmet goes down, its a one time down type of thing.)
but ive already wanted the Kagayama 2 TC-5. and now i have it.
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 10:46 AM Thats a great helmet you'll be very very happy!!!
Swimmer, how much did you get those tank grips for? I've been thinking about getting some... I'm starting to to notice i'll use them
sl33pyriceboi 05-02-2009, 10:49 AM Yeah, Cycle Gear is trouble. I went in last night to order some of the traction pads for the sides of the tank. It lightened my wallet a little, but now I will be able to keep my nuts off the tank when going from 150 to 40 in a very aggressive manner... gotta love the track. yea. the guy was new. and made BANK commisson off of 1 X-11, a shoei visor, and two daniese leather jackets. total sales of $1,2xx
he was happy. so were all my two friends and myself.
its so funny, they have the same jacket, same 2008 600rr same everything when they put full gear on.
i tell them they're kinda cute (in a sarcastic way)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/sl33pyriceboi/R1/cuteboys.jpg
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 10:50 AM OMG how gay :lol:lol:lol:lol
Red Ballz 05-02-2009, 10:54 AM Wow, just wow.
I see you lurking down there swimmer: how's the bike coming?
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 11:02 AM Me and rhino are going for a ride... Anyone local wanna go? It's gonna be a quick one... I gotta be somewhere at 2...
Red Ballz 05-02-2009, 11:09 AM I'd say yes, but I'm getting ready to take off for the new Xmen flick...
If ya'll are riding tomorrow hit me up.
lexanidubs09 05-02-2009, 11:16 AM I might be up for a tomorrow ride as well... I've got a business meeting at 7:30 in the morning but should be out by 10 or so... Send me your phone number bro :thumbup
Swimmer160 05-02-2009, 02:00 PM Thats a great helmet you'll be very very happy!!!
Swimmer, how much did you get those tank grips for? I've been thinking about getting some... I'm starting to to notice i'll use them
that was Red Ballz who got the grips.
I see you lurking down there swimmer: how's the bike coming?
Not bad, I'm still waiting on the rear set and the fairing stay, should be early in the week that I get 'em. Other then that all the plastics are repaired and awaiting minor paint jobs, I have to go back to NC to pick up the other 2 cans that I ordered.
When you want the tires? They're still sittin here takin up space.
joe.blackr1 05-02-2009, 02:16 PM Come drink with me anytime :fact
wife gets mad when i drink... last time i drank so much that i passed out while talking to her friends (not flirting) i fell to the floor and they dragged me to the shower and let me sleep there
Swimmer160 05-02-2009, 04:11 PM wife gets mad when i drink... last time i drank so much that i passed out while talking to her friends (not flirting) i fell to the floor and they dragged me to the shower and let me sleep there
LoLz...you were "that guy":drunk::ugh:lol
Red Ballz 05-02-2009, 04:36 PM I got the grips for about 60, with military discount. They'll be here Friday. Honestly, I can't wait. According to Lee Parks, I need to be as far back in the seat as I can, and under heavy braking, even in my leathers that's tough. The one's I have have a cloth material on the inside of the thighs, and so they don't grip the tank. Making it very tough to squeeze with my legs.
@Swimmer: I'll call in a few.
joe.blackr1 05-02-2009, 04:39 PM LoLz...you were "that guy":drunk::ugh:lol
i never puked... i just fell asleep... standing (well standing for a sec)
joe.blackr1 05-02-2009, 04:42 PM i also quit drinking... once in awhile id take a shot or two... but nothin to get me drunk anymore
Red Ballz 05-02-2009, 04:48 PM Well that's no fun.
I don't get drunk more than once every couple weeks, mainly because of the bike. Most of the time I'd rather go out riding all evening than get hammered.
joe.blackr1 05-02-2009, 04:50 PM it does... but i am slowly payin off shiz so i dont have to pay interest...
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 10:46 AM wife gets mad when i drink... last time i drank so much that i passed out while talking to her friends (not flirting) i fell to the floor and they dragged me to the shower and let me sleep there

lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 11:16 AM :lol:lol My outlook on partying and drinkin varies from pretty much everyone else's... i think it has to do with my age :lol:lol

Swimmer160 05-03-2009, 01:16 PM i would ride, but my rear set and stay doesn't come til tomorrow....I can't F'N wait!!!!!!!
joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 01:18 PM i'll go with u fellas one of these days... prolly to a track day...
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 01:24 PM We need to get something going soon though :fact

joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 01:58 PM question for anyone smarter then me (almost anyone)
i weigh 140ish with gear... the suspension is still at the factory setting... should i soften it up or keep it where its at... during the week it is used for freeway riding... and every other weekend i make a trip up good ole palomar...
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 01:59 PM Suspension sure isn't my thing... I'm sure DanQ will chime in soon enough for ya :thumbup
joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 02:04 PM cool... i r not smart with suspension either
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 02:05 PM They say it's actually very very easy... It just seems complicated to me... If your willing to try it yourself i know Dan did a very very detailed write up on how to set it up yourself if you feeling adventerous... I went to a race shop and paid to have mine set up for me
joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 02:08 PM id rather do it myself... that way ill learn something
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 02:11 PM Here is the how-to... Figure if you really screw up that bad just take notes on what you undid first and if you screw it up just go back to your initial notes....
http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252234
Red Ballz 05-03-2009, 02:47 PM Just take it in to a shop and have it done if you don't have somebody to help you with it.
Metric Method up in Laguna Hills did a good job with mine. Its 20 bucks, or free for military.
On a side note... I'm bored. My hangover is finally gone and I think I'm going to try and round up some peeps for Xmen. I've heard a lot of good and bad about it, but seeing as everybody fell through yesterday, I'm going to try again today.
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 02:49 PM I'm bored too... Seems that there isn't much to do today.... It's nice outside though... Maybe rhino will call in a little... Who knows... I'm just watching the hockey game right now...
Red Ballz 05-03-2009, 02:52 PM All I've done today is sit around quietly. I woke still drunk from last night.
lexanidubs09 05-03-2009, 02:54 PM :lol:lol i've been sitting around all day as well... I had a business meeting at 7:30 this morning and since then i haven't done a damn thing... Wish i coulda got drunk last night... But if that woulda happened i know i wouldn't have been up in time this morning
joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 04:58 PM well that cinco de mayo thing wasnt all that...

joe.blackr1 05-03-2009, 04:59 PM Metric Method up in Laguna Hills did a good job with mine. Its 20 bucks, or free for military.

Swimmer160 05-03-2009, 06:19 PM @Red Ballz: I tried looking for the x-men but could only find the workprints, sorry.
Sadly, I just ran out of red paint, and I only got two coats on the other mid-fairing, boo. I'll have to finish up tomorrow, which will push me back til probably wednesday to get back on the bitch....fml...
Red Ballz 05-03-2009, 08:39 PM I just got back from going to see it. It was ok, I'm really bummed that they made Gambit speak decent english with barely any accent from the way I remember him in the old cartoon with his thick, hard to understand Cajun accent.

the inside legs of my suit is neoprene and if i have to break hard, good bye to the boys.
Taylor would go slower than i do when his bike should work us, and yes, those 10 mph hair pins are ridiculous, the speed im comfortable at going through the 2 or 3 of em is right between 1st and 2nd gear, so it never feels right
