After my incident last night, I got hammered. So I'm a bit hungover, refresh my memory, what did I say to get a thanks?

the V1 isnt proven better that is simply false. ive had 2 V1 and 1 of the 95,

both alert pretty much the same....but 95 has gps advantages far beyond the v1.

the V1 is over hyped and over priced.

the problem with the V1 is if u dont buy it new, you will never knew if its a newer or older version. its looked the same since 199X.

if ur in the market and ur on a budget, i would get the escort X50.

the thing is, unless you do ALOT of highway riding w/ very little to no traffic, u really wont need the RD because:
1. CHP wont be able to get a lock on you with other cars on the freeway
2. on the regular city streets, its almost always too congested to use radar, plus many city streets dont have an engineering survey.
3. most police (not CHP) cars do not come with a radar scanner.
(i work at starbucks, and i know over 30 officers in two different cities, and im pretty close with some of em. ive gone to their bbqs n stuff)


so why do I have a RD?
1. i do alot of night driving home (after midnight)
2. 90% of my commute is on teh highway anyways.
3. in the summer i am 99% nocturnal. so im out at night alot.

I agree, you will be good with both, but I call false on a couple of your statements.

1. Yes, the 95 does have gps, but that being an advantage definitely does not qualify it as having an advantage. I've checked it out, and from what I see and have learned, it helps you out to stop from going off in case of false alarms(i.e. auto doors). However, I have been in a couple situations where the LEO has hid in strip malls and common false alarm spots, and without the bogie counter, and the arrows, I would've figured it to be just another false alarm. So I don't consider the gps to be a huge advantage whatsoever, just another way for it to think for you by not worrying about common false alarm spots, I don't know about you, but I wanna know where shits at. As far as detection distance, I'm sure they're the same in that sense.

and 2) It doesn't matter what version of V1 you have, because if you go on they're website, they have a upgrade tab (http://valentine1.com/upgrades/) that you put in the S/N of your V1 and it tells you what version of software you are running, and if there is newer software, you send it in, pay like $30, and literally get your V1 back just as you would have bought it brand new from the store.

There are alot of similarities between the top end RD's, but the arrows and bogie counter throws the V1 over the top, hence the patent on it.

so I had 1 hiccup puttin her back together. all of the plastics are back on minus the nose, because as I was taking the headlight (key word) out of the box, I realized that it was just the right side light assembly...which pissed me off that I didn't check before hand. Luckily, it's the right side light that broke the worst, and I've got JB Weld sitting on the mounting point for the leftside headlight to get it back together. So I have one headlight old one new, however, I had to take the headlight armor shit off and the old one looks brand new still thanks to that tint that I had. Angel Eyes are replaced on the new headlight too. Hopefully tonight I can get her all back together, if not then the nose will be back on tomorrow fo sho!

BTW, mid fairings look tight!!! once I can afford to get them professionally done, I'm going to do that, because it does look somewhat amateurish, but it still looks tight!

so yeah, uber gayness happened as I was putting on my new headlight, the CCFL that I had siliconed onto the projector broke...so now I have to take it back out....FML

I was just wondering if anyone have any information regarding the recall information for the 2009 YZFR1? Had a buddy from work saying that the new R1's have a shitty clutch. Seems to break off. One of the guys my buddy was talking about had his clutch broke on his 09 R1 and he didn't even break 600 miles off his bike...which is weird because I'm standing at 1400+ miles out of my R1 and the clutch seems to work just fine...

My shits been in check because i didnt have the money to fix the katana if i wrecked so i took it pretty easy, then my spill on the triumph has kept me pretty damn calm on that bike. except when i hit some nice twisties

I was just wondering if anyone have any information regarding the recall information for the 2009 YZFR1? Had a buddy from work saying that the new R1's have a shitty clutch. Seems to break off. One of the guys my buddy was talking about had his clutch broke on his 09 R1 and he didn't even break 600 miles off his bike...which is weird because I'm standing at 1400+ miles out of my R1 and the clutch seems to work just fine...

I would like to say a few things here,


the way this squadron has been going since its "re do" back in October has only set us worse off. We have had a couple key members to this squadron asked to not post in the squad section. BOTH are great guys and have bent over backwards trying to help other squadron members out. something needs to happen here as far as a re align on squad officers.


Our CO or XO (both attended the ride) did not take any bit of responsibility in the fact that 2 riders went down in the last "official ride" plus one speeding ticket. As the HEAD OFFICER, some responsibility had to be taken. "boys will be boys" is not an excuse. One down, shit happens, but when 2 go down within that small amount of time. Separate a couple riding groups so its not one big pack and has a bunch of people trying to keep up for fear of being left behind. and then a speeding ticket for 120 mph? ( I dont know the details on this incident so i cannont say much on it besides it shouldnt happen.) This squadron has just been ran into the ground and SOMETHING seriously needs to happen, or i guarantee many of the members who feel the same way I do will just start going away, and the squad will go away at all.


I could talk about why DavidSFC or Sal_R1 should still be here, but we have gone back and forth and you know where I stand. Both shouldn't of been forced to leave. They have been more interactive in the squad than any of the officers and have helped out tremendously.


Something seriously needs to happen before the squad is no longer around, what if a majority vote is put into place for a re vote on sqaud officers. IMO the dragon squadron was too small in numbers to get a fair vote last time.


Sorry if this is seen as wrong, it is just how i feel. Too many things have gone wrong here and someone needed to say something

I wasn't there for the first accident or the speeding ticket.

David has not been asked to leave he is on a vacation and will return. I just said that. I did not request it. I did ask him to stop posting in a particular thread because all he was doing was arguing and cussing and insulting me and that thread had already been cleaned up after he had done the same thing several days before. He has not lost his membership in the squadron.

I'm tired of the abuse by several members on here. I'm sorry but it's the truth. I get singled out as the bad guy for things I don't even do. Sal was asked to leave because of his nasty behavior and I am so tired of taking the heat for it. I didn't suggest it, it came down from above and I was the one that had to enforce it. So fine I'm the bad guy but your buddy is still being nasty and rude towards me with his comments in other sections of the forum. Why would you even want him back if he can't be nice and treat other's with respect.

What responsibility should I take when people are told to ride their own ride and don't??? I cannot physically change what someone does on their own bike. Do I think it sucks that they went down Yes I do but I'm not sure what you think I could have done to stop it and the other accidents we have had in the squadron am I to take responsibility for them as well?

I have tried my best to do a good job even when hindered and harrassed and blamed for things I've not done and I am so sorry that several members do not like me and don't think I've done a good job. And btw the majority of the decisions that have been made in regards to the squadron are after a group decision has been made by all of the officers. So please quit blaming me for everything.

Does that mean we can't do the other version, no it doesn't but no one and I mean no one but officers have ponied up any of the extra funds needed. So what would you and other members like to do about that? The officers cannot be responsible for paying for everything to set this up but no one else is volunteering. Oh and just to give you an idea how easy it would be to pay for the alternate image. If every member donated 2 bucks to it we could get it done.

New guy here. I'm active duty Navy homeport-shifting from Corpus Christi, Texas, to SD. The Navy is closing the base in TX this year and relocating the ships and support to 32nd Street.

Lived in Lakeside back in '06 and now I'm back again for another few years. Good to be back, too!

I haven't been around much lately as the bike has been down. My friend's roommate gave me a new brake lever the other day. So I put it on and since the bike was in the back of a truck, I didn't ride her Sunday evening. Well, on Monday, Swimmer dropped by and I rode with him for a minute. I went to the gas station to top off. As I was leaving, my brake felt really firm. I got about a mile and a half down the road and the brakes start locking up. I pull over and there is smoke coming from the pads. So I call up a friend and throw the bike into the back of his truck after Swimmer and I decided that we couldn't fix her. I bought a new master cylinder as that's what I figured was bad seeing that both calipers were seizing. I took her down to a shop yesterday to get the brakes bled and my tires put on. I leave there and make it the same distance down the road and the brakes begin seizing on me. The lever I put on the other day is millimeters to large and depresses ok the plunger just enough that it is causing the brakes to bite a little. After riding a little bit the heat builds and locks down the brakes.

Knowing what's wrong is nice, but it doesn't make me any less angry. Tomorrow I'm going to sit down with a dremel and fix this.

I'm going to continue getting drunk again this evening as I have nothing better to do now.

Today met up with the "BANNED" DavidSFC and added Bearclaw from the Dragons for a rip.

From Point Loma to Telegraph Canyon onto the 94 to get our pictures taken. That way the rest of you guys will know I do actually ride my motorcycle. 94 to HWY 80 and onto Sunrise. Sunrise down to Julian hooking down Banner Grade. Banner was awesome today. East to Borrego Springs for lunch. Over S22 Montezuma Pass before heading towards San Yesbel. On the 78 to SY I decided that the 76 to Oside looked like a good choice. Hooked onto Mesa Grande and THEN into San Yesbel. SY into Ramona. Over Highland Valley Road down the 15 back to San Diego.

Pics will come later after HWY 94 posts up.

Today met up with the "BANNED" DavidSFC and added Bearclaw from the Dragons for a rip.

From Point Loma to Telegraph Canyon onto the 94 to get our pictures taken. That way the rest of you guys will know I do actually ride my motorcycle. 94 to HWY 80 and onto Sunrise. Sunrise down to Julian hooking down Banner Grade. Banner was awesome today. East to Borrego Springs for lunch. Over S22 Montezuma Pass before heading towards San Yesbel. On the 78 to SY I decided that the 76 to Oside looked like a good choice. Hooked onto Mesa Grande and THEN into San Yesbel. SY into Ramona. Over Highland Valley Road down the 15 back to San Diego.

I honestly don't know. Ok that's not true I have one side of the story. The players are Bunnyrbt, DavidSFC and DanQ the MOD who cleaned it all up before I got a chance to see it for myself.

That being said it's a developing trend with perdictable results. YMMV.

As for me, personally I ride! That said I'll have 2,000 yes that right 2,000 miles added to my bike by the time I go to work tomorrow, that works out to 13 days of riding for me. Granted my bike is my daily driver, but my round trip to work and back is 10 miles a day. You do the math. Which reminds me I need to post up pics from my last rip down the 94.

Once your bike is back up and running recommend you leave the internet behind and get on board a :fork. Save the drama. There are those that talk and others that ride. DavidSFC is more then welcome to ride with me. Often times he does.

hey all afternoon im bored at work what's every one up to?

i been 2wheel-less for over a month now.

I know the feeling well. But I stayed on two wheels. Got out my mountain bike the day after my highside and started riding that to work. The great thing was it did wonders for my Power to Weight ratio. The R1 got fixed and I wasn't so heavy! More power for me to use.

long time no talk dragons. It's been some time since I've been on. But the bike is fixed up for the most part, the only thing left is I need to get the dent in the tank pulled, but that'll come later. I've been puttin some miles on her, less interwebz, more interstate! Anyways, I ended up going to the Support the Troops Ride this past Saturday and it was pretty damn sweet! Out of about 200-250 bikes, maybe 30-40 were sport bikes, haha. The poker run that they did was a nice route, nothing to crazy, nothing really too boring, and about 45-47 miles round trip. They had some good ass food and were giving away some pretty great shit. Me and the wifey won some gift certificates, and the old lady won a pair of Air Drive Headphones (http://www.airdrives.com/default.asp?contentID=1), different, but expensive. I've been brought my camera there with me but I maybe took 5 pictures I was just all down for lookin at everything and riding! I went to K1 Speed (http://k1speed.com/) with some buddies on Friday, and if you haven't ever been, I HIGHLY Suggest it! Maybe set up a get together to do some races.

I didn't have a bad weekend per say just not a great one. I plan to fix that this coming weekend.

Friday night was 2 Sam Adam's Summer Ale :drunk: :drunk: ! Good stuff to be sure. It was just what "The Doctor" ordered, after spending a perfectly afternoon inside at couples marriage counseling when I could have been out riding! See what happens when your wife "Highsides" your ass? You miss out on some good mileage. :fact

Saturday morning was spent "In Group Session" with DavidSFC and Bearclaw28. We did about 3 hours of actual "Asphalt Therapy"; the only thing keeping me sane!

Sunday I watched the kid's so the wife could get out of the house. Later that same day it was time well spent at the San Diego Zoo with my 5 year old. She and I had a great time.

This coming weekend is going to be the bomb. I have Friday off. I have plans to get some quality riding in. Ortega HWY CA 74 and GMR are on my short list. Sat. 5/23 I have plans to meet Sal_R1 and the gang for a rip on Ojai HWY. Should be a blast. Any Dragons want to host a tired dirty biker Friday night?
