Lex, How did you miss that one?

David, 10 years experience. 15 years sabbatical. lol...and stop looking at my ass! That's reserved for Gilman.
You can trailer the bikes to my house, there is no overnight parking but, they usually don't enforce it on weekends, I'm sure I can work on getting a pass for what day you come out, just let me know.

WRT bike: I am still up in the air on what to do. I think I need to take it by a shop and have them give me an opinion. The front is seriously tweaked.

DavidSFC, thanks for the really kind offer. I will have to politely say "No Thank-You".

My dear Mom always says: "Neither Borrower nor Lender Be" If I could afford to replace your bike with the exact copy of what you have or something better that you wanted at the drop of a hat then maybe. I am currently not in a position to do either. Now Lex's bike for example I would have no problems taking that. I figure a stand-up on one wheel the whole way home down the I-5 would do wonders for his engine.

Still plotting a way out of my current jam without breaking the bank. It's gotta happen quick because I can hardly stand sitting on the sidelines while my friends are all out riding.

Did I miss something? Why is your front end tweaked? :dunno

This past long weekend I was out on Monday. Did pie in Julian and was coming back to San Diego.

Ran over a golf ball sized rock and washed out the front end. I fell off the bike lowside; not a big deal...only fell about 8-10 inches to the ground. No damage to my person at all.

Typical right hand side damage to the '03. Mirror, bar end, all the plastic on the right, clutch cover, pipe, broke the drivers rearset clean off. Bent the subframe, and now when you hold the clip-on's stright the front wheel points/steers to the right.

Who knew that God makes the best motorcycle brakes in the universe? :lol

Stood up in time to watch my baby go rightside tail first into the canyon wall.

Repairs in progress.

Is there any way to get a discount on the ASV levers? $250 is pretty steep. The better half ok'd new levers and grips.

I want to go ASV black for the levers.

I am also going to do these for the grips:
http://www.oldbikebarn.com/Street/2001-Yamaha-YZF1000-R-R1/HARRIS-GRIPS-YZF-R1-CF-RED

On a side note I think I may have convinced her that she should look into getting her own bike. Any suggestions for a decent Yamaha starter bike?

R1? :crash

She's scared of bicycles lol. She screwed up when she was a kid and has 2 fake front teeth because of it. I REALLY want to go Yammy for all my bikes but they don't really give me a decent option for a beginner sporty bike. I think she will prolly end up on something like a ninja 250 or 500r.

I'll look into the seca 2. She has a full face helmet and rides with me already. She had her accident when she was like 6 or 7 so honestly it's not a big deal. I cannot tell the difference between her fakes and her real teeth. She had a lot of corrective dental surgery done and everything matches nicely. I on the other hand am a snaggle toothed hill billy!

Nobody got banned for BS, I can guarantee you of that. It's been a long road trying to keep peace in this squadron, yet one individual was continually undermining those efforts, finally resulting in an all-out uncalled for verbal attack of another forum member. The buck stopped right there. I could post dozens of PM's concerning the soap opera this has been, but won't, but suffice it to say DanQ was practically a full time referee among some of the people who were the continual combatants in this squadron. He gave FAR more leeway than anyone else would have, yet continually got burned by it.

This ain't a damn day-care, people can either be adults or they can be gone. Everybody's destiny is in THEIR OWN hands. Nothing happens to someone that they don't bring upon themselves. This fact alone was explained MANY times in PM's to parties involved, but apparently it was either not accepted or not understood. The moderators were out of options, simple as that.

There probably is. And I probably would have found it. Go back and look at your post, and tell me who could have been more professional first.

I have tried with you people. And it hasn't worked. So now you get the approach I am taking now. Sorry. Wish it could have worked out differently. But you folks refuse to let anything be easy. Hope it works out for you all.

No, not really. If you are here to interact with regional people, hopefully meet, and have a good time with motorcycles you are probably in the right place. There are a few folks upset about some decisions made, but nothing that should stop any plans or involvement.

Have you thought about hitting up a place and trying some on? I have been researching a lot and I found some Yamaha ones for cheap. The place is in Commerce. I hear you can go and try them on to make sure the fit is right. I am a monster though. With your question being about a waist size I would just go to Berts or chaparral and just try them on. Once you have that down. Online shopping is probably the best deal unless you know an insider.

They have much better things to do and they're just real nice folks, so why burden them with all this childishness. So only the facts and you can then make up your own gawd-damned minds on the matter.

The straw that broke the camel's back would be with me. :fact Sal started to attack me on a thread I started in Off Topic, called this is a holdup. His posts have been removed but basically he turned a pun I used to demand from me on why there's no money in the squadron.

Thinking of it as a joke as we had never butted heads before, I asked him if he wanted to lose another bet with me that his facts were wrong and they were wrong. We do have some money but it was a contribution from an officer.

Then he went into his berserker attack mode and started to call me and the officers scumbags and again reassert his demand to see the spreadsheets. Here he crossed the line, I told him to basically to f'ck off as he isn't a squadron member, nor an officer, nor a mod. He attacked me again and that's all she wrote. I didn't report it. But 2 mods already made posts so they probably became aware of it. Paytheon told us to get a room. :lol

Now this isn't the only time he has been warned. He has done this many times before on the forum for the whole world to see. I don't have mod access but I'm on here enough to have seen many times. Just try a search for it. I have never met him personally but most say he's the coolest of guys. I don't doubt that. On the forum, he was a bully. Plain and simple... I would like to see how the LA/OC/SD people that know him react to this. If you think he didn't deserve what he did, then again we are going to paddle through the same sheot after the new election, whoever is elected. :fact I will say this now, his supporters and I will be at odds. Do you honestly think anyone that is promoting continued drama deserves kudos?

Do you honestly think that members of the Venom Squadron, the Phantom Squadron and the Wolfpack Squadron should vote in the poll to elect a CO of the Dragon Squadron? Wow.

For all of the perceived drama of this squad - which is in reality, the growing pains of an expanding organization - apparently it is more interesting and exciting than the activity that members of other squads find in their own regions. Our founding fathers had spirited discussions as they forged a direction for this country and they didn't always agree but they had far-reaching ideas that have endured over time. This squad is actively engaging its membership, seasoned riders are inviting newer riders on rides and vice versa, members are pursuing goals and ideas. It is the best of what evolutionary growth has to offer. Evolutionary - taking place over time. Will everyone agree? Not likely but such is the nature of groups and progress.

Should a moderator - defined as moderate, moderation, mitigation (the action of lessening in severity or intensity) - be posting up this "Dragon Slayer" graphic in another squad's thread: Post #2524 in this thread: http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256979&page=127 after banning a contributing member of the Dragon Squad and forum?
In military terms that seems akin to getting a verified kill by shooting a civilian in the back. Seems like gloating. Also seems like childish behavior for one that is supposed to moderate spirited discussion, not eliminate it.
And then saying that, " I had to get the picture here for future use", quoted monday, June 22, 2009. Should the Dragon Squad expect further bans if we engage in spirited discussion as we attempt to define our identity and continue to evolve?

I think it is past time that some people look in the mirror and ask themselves whether they are contributing members attempting to advance the growth of the forum or instigators or provocateurs who can only advance their own agenda by making others appear small.

Ooops, sprained my ankle falling off my soapbox. Good morning.

Do you honestly think that members of the Venom Squadron, the Phantom Squadron and the Wolfpack Squadron should vote in the poll to elect a CO of the Dragon Squadron? Wow.

You guys need to quit your damn crying. I don't know what the deal is with the dragon slayer pic, and don't really care, but I doubt it's what you think it is. The fact remains your boy not only put the noose around his own neck (MANY times) he pushed himself off the chair he was standing on. Trying to pass off his BS as "spirited discussion" is apparently your way of rationalizing the infantile scheming and behavior that has undeniably poisoned the atmosphere of this squadron. I could post a bunch of links and quotes to point out the orchestrated divisiveness that has occurred, leading up to the reputation this squadron has so far earned, but you already know they're there, and that it happened, so let's not waste a bunch of time trying to deceive everybody into thinking it wasn't going on.

I can tell you this, no matter the outcome of this election, if the future turns out to be simply "more of the same" disruptive, acidic, divisive, and insulting BS, the site admin WILL step in and punt the antagonists to the corners and install his own selection of leadership.

I promise you, this is by FAR the most informative and accurate post in this thread. :fact

Brent, I'll take your arguments point by point. Regarding the voting, first of all their votes would never have counted anyways. Second, even if it did, I would never have accepted their votes as being valid either. Third, they're the mods of the forum so they can pretty well much do what they please. Now you bring up a good question though on then who should be allowed to vote. Do you think it is fair to allow someone who has been on the forum let alone the squadron for less than a year to have full voting privileges? That in itself is the REAL voting debate yet also at the same time, do you see me getting my panties bunched up about it? Please relax, David's winning by a good margin.

Your 2nd point on the squadron drama, you obviously had your head in the sand about it if you think that it's the normal "growing pains" of an organization. I have heard it on the receiving end from most of the people involved and was there at the conclusion. You are saying that attacking people for no reason whatsoever, calling them good for nothing scumbags as "Spirited" discussion makes me wonder on your grasp of US history. I don't remember John Adams calling Thomas Jefferson a corrupt good for nothing scumbag. Please explain the correlation of the squadron growth with a more proper example. Like maybe the movie: "One flew over the cuckoo's nest." The only correlation with US history is that we're pretty much at the Civil War stage from my perspective.

The man was on permanent PMS. He should have been banned about a year and a half ago from my perspective and the mods kept on giving him chance after chance with the hope that he'd clean up his act. Unfortunately though the inevitable still occurred. I don't know if you remember this but in the early squadron days, Sal actually seconded me as Treasurer. Go figure. You call it an evolutionary process. I don't call it that at all. There was no active participation in any of the squadron functions or ideas. He then started his own things and got the SoCal group started on local rides and meets and even an alternate logo decal. Now let me ask you on your participation. I have not seen you participate in any of the squadron events either until recently. You weren't actively engaged last year in making the squadron evolve from my perspective as an officier. Are you participating now because of an epiphany or because it is meeting your "local" needs? You get bitter about other squadron and mod members interjecting inside our squadron because they are expressing their opinion on who they support. I think your view is too narrow. There was never any limitation on where you can post. I post pretty much everywhere and am welcomed everywhere. Dragon Squadron as such should do the same. The forum brotherhood is MUCH more than just the Dragon squadron in SoCal. Hopefully you'll come to understand that.

And l am going to defend Dan, you don't know what you're talking about.:fact It is sad that you haven't met him in person and yet make such charges. If he defends himself, then it could be viewed as either denial or defensive so I'll vouch for him and the other mods. He is probably one of the nicest person you'll ever meet. He has far more patience than me and most of the people I've met in a long time. So you're wrong and don't jump to conclusions so quickly as to why he did what he did. He did it for a good reason.

You then pose a question of continual bans for "spirited" discussions. You seem to think they ban people on a whim. Though it is joked about alot, they take that part very seriously. They ban people who really deserve to be banned. And the people that do get banned, do it to themselves. I don't know of any Dragon Squadron member that has been banned other than Sal so I don't know about the pluarality you mention except that it may occur in the future. But again that is usually due to a member who brings it onto himself.

Now we come to the main point of self-reflection. The "Show Me the Money!!!" moment of what we are calling forum progress. Really I'd like to ask you directly, what have you contributed to the forum? You've been here almost as long as I have. Yet I really haven't seen jack in terms of tech advice or how-tos or even in the mods section. I know I have contributed much, and those threads can be found. Don't need to brag about that. Also what has David contributed in his short span here? Let's show our cards and see who has the better hand in that category. This is to point out your logical 2nd point. If you're not here for the growth of the forum in the things you have contributed to then by YOUR words, you are then an instigator or provacateur advancing your small agenda. So then who needs to look in the mirror?
