Preston, I highly recommend Banner Grade. Take the 76 East out of Oside. Up the tight side of Pally. Down the wide side. Then back on the 76. Keep your eyes peeled on your right before you get to the 79 on the left is Mesa Grande. Take that. Once you get to the end of that hook a right. Fuel up in San Ysabel. Then continue right out of the only gas station in town to Julian. Right at the Stop sign then out of Julian towards the 79 but stay on the 78 going out past their highschool. That drops you on Banner Grade. Do that then look up Yaki (sp) Pass into Borrego Springs. Then over Montazuma on the way back.

That's a 200 mile clip give or take your starting point. Start with a clear head and a full tank at 6AM you'll be home by lunch.

Or call Reggie and have him help you with the route.

I just laid out the ride I did with DavidSFC and Cruiznik. That was the first day I met you out at NCHOM after blipping up the freeway outta San Diego at 6AM only to get to the meet point to find out Reggie was still in the rack.

Are you asking about Gopher Canyon Road that dumps you on the 76 or connects you to Rice Canyon so that you can blast the back way into Hemet via Sage Road on your way to the 74 and the 243 out to Idllywild way?

I know a few roads trouble is I am always looking to learn more.

I could keep you busy for hours within 40 minutes of a gas station and pie shop in Julian and never really run the same stuff twice. But I should really stop bragging before someone calls my bluff and makes me take them out there till their ass is too sore to ride no more.

I too prefer to keep my garage clean, you should see my toolbox, I'm so damn OCD it's not even funny. But I do like to leave things out when I'm in the middle of something as opposed to having to put it all away then get it back out again just to keep her neatfreak nature happy. If I let her have any say in the garage I'd be in there scrubbing the floor to get up all the oil stains once a week. :chair:

I have had the pleasure to meet and ride with guys that I consider Bruddas for life. I'm going to die with the elders and the youngins' will be there to give there kudos at our grave.

This group is not about stunters, bike night bois or pvssies. Each and evryone of you have demonstrated what it takes to ride and represent one of the best f'n machines on two wheels. The R1 is elite:flex:

We are serious R1 riders that kill the canyons and need to get to the track as much as possible. Dat's what it's about with the race bikes we love sometimes more than our wives, g-friends or hand:lol

Thank you all for your continued support and it only gets a fvck lot better from here...pardon my f'n French hahaha.

Came down to Stockton for the night (taking the wife and brother to Santa Cruz tomorrow), pretty boring drive once I get out of the hills but I had a real eye opener on hwy 4. Got hit in the shoulder by a styrofoam ice chest lid! I had no idea what it was but I was shire it was going to destroy me...bounced off and I had to change my shorts!

:lol..but glad you are OK. How did the "dumbass camper" fire put out go? I'm truly amazed how f'n stoopid people can be in the woods...or elsewhere for that matter.:nforc:

Hi y'all!

I still don't have internet so I haven't been around much, but it looks like everything is going well for the dragons.

A little update about me...
I got another bike the other day. A 2002 RC-51 with 9100 mi for a really really good price. The thing is bone stock other than CRG levers the guy put on. I put on some power 2ct's and took her to the camp pen track day that went on today and she was loads of fun. She certainly is not as quick on her feet as a R1, but damn is she fun to ride. The V-twin combined with some excellent engineering by HRC makes for a good combo. I'll post up some pics soon.

I'll be putting up the R1 for sale in a few weeks, I think. I'll be on vacation for a couple weeks, and after that I'll have decided whether or not I'll be keeping her. If I do keep her she'll get a makeover into a dedicated track machine.

Peace!

I am going to burn them to disc here in a little and I can bring them by later this week if you want them. They are little big to email.

@Grom:

I love it. It's got an unquantifiable fun factor to it. It may not be anywhere near as fast as the new ones, but again, its a hoot. The workmanship that it has is amazing, for as heavy as it is it turns really well, and that V-twin is just awesome.

@Joe: I was riding with the orange group, did you see me lose the back end going around the u-turn at the end of the straight? I got on the gas too hard and too fast, she certainly didn't like it and I drifted that back tire right out through the last half of the turn.

i am currently bored out of my mind... so i :moto: it out

slow.... i was in first for most of it... but the straight away was enough to get to triple digets (2nd gear) but it was concrete.... out of the 45 people there... 4 dropped their bikes (3 of them were in my group and out of those 3 2 were in the same corner at the same time) and due to the wind some dust was getting on the course and i almost lost my back tire in the corner the 2 other riders lost theirs

I practically had to beg Endo77 to join. Chased him around the fourm with my cock in hand for like two weeks. I guess he must like DC man better then FC man, as I see he hooked you up with a sick sig and not so much as offered to help me prep my bike for the track or nothing.

I had to figure it out all on my own and we have the same R1 in '09 trim.

All kidding aside looking forward to meeting you and Endo77.

-Gilman

Ah Gilman, it's o.k. Don't :cryin I could easily make you a sig too if you would like. Actually, it would be my pleasure. Gives me just another reason to play around on photoshop here.

And maybe the fact that you had your cock in your hand is the reason why I was running.:hammer::hammer: Did you ever think of that? :hammer: Oh, and sorry if I didn't lend enough support on prepping your bike for the track. I forgot that you were an FC man, and me being an MM man, the thought completely slipped my mind. Sorry man. :lol:lol

So I ave some bad news. I dumped her today. I was scrubbing my new tires in and found a lovely gravel patch in the shade. Felt the rear end start to slide and tried to stand it up. Decided I'd rather low side than high side and just went with it. My paint job is shot as is my headlight assembly. I rigged the headlights on so I can ride to work and back. The after-market plastics held up perfectly. The paint job is down the drain, so me and the girl are going to re-paint it. I'm going to also do the greg's custom flushmounts and I'm trying to find an under-tail eliminator that I like.

As far as injuries my gear did it's job my jacket is good to go I don't think I hit my head but my helmet is scraped up so I am considering replacing it. I am EXTREMELY glad I was wearing my full race boots. My left foot is bruised and swollen but in one piece and not broken. I did bruise my shoulder pretty good as well as some ribs but I'll live. Also managed to break my index finger on my left hand.

Just so everyone is clear. I'm not done riding, not my first wreck and luckily not my last. If anyone has tips or suggestions for painting the bike after sanding please let me know.

On the RC: That thing is f'ing fun. I'm still getting used to riding her, as she rides totally different from the R1, but damn is it easy to get a knee down with that thing.

I know that feeling man. Try being loaded down with combat gear and trying to put out a 2 acre grass fire with a couple of fire extinguishers and e-tools (the little shovels that you attach to your combat gear). We went to the range one time and the tracers from our machine guns set the tall grass on fire. :fire Talk about an interesting day.

Red Ballz, awesome to hear about that RC-51. My buddy has one that he only uses on the track. That's one fast machine. From what I know about it which I will freely admit isn't much the power delivery will be way different then what your used to with the R1.

Griz, TOTW I & II are great books. I find myself looking back over them again and again. I loan them out to almost anyone that is willing to take them. You and Joe should find something of value in each book.

Joe, awsome pics from your day at the track. Looking good! Noting but respect for you. Any chance you'll be coming out for some group riding?

Hey all I just took a PM from Cruiznik and he is working on some really great mods for his bike to include an Akrapovic Evo System...man I bet that's gonna sound sweet.

That pic posted by WTA JERK is off the hook! :rock That is my favorite dragon (a mix of the eastern and western dragon) and to top it off it's holding the Yamaha logo (although in the wrong color :cryin ). That thing will have me wanting sweet dreams tonight :fact

I can give you the bits and pieces that I made the pic out of and you can make one that fits your color scheme... But I may have a few other Dragons you might like as well...

I'm still on this fire.... It's about 2,400 acres now and looking to be around 10,000 when we get a hand on it. It's burning in an extremely steep river canyon that we can't safely commit crews in, all dozer work and burn shows. I'll probably be here for at least another week as an engine operator then come back after a few days off to work in communications for the command post. I'm waiting for them to fix my truck, my captain backed the engine into the water tender and ducked up my mirror and step, plus I need different tires, the retarded contract water tenders doin dust abatement (even at 3 am ?) made camp a huge mudpit and I almost wiped out a squad of convicts while fishtailing the tender...it was a good time.

And FYI boss, I havent gotten my invoice for dragon sticker kit, and let the x/o know it's on order so he doesn't have to send me PMs about sporting the group stickers, they will be worn with pride.

Are the other squadron things (shirts, hats, ect) already done? Are there pics and prices?

Been thinking about a sig banner....found the right pics I think, cropped piece of a woodland fire on one side and a pic of my on my "true fire" 2000 R1 on the right side, not sure what for a background or a font for my name.... Any opinions or anyone want to help me work on it when I get back? I have a few pics on my iPhone I can email but the 3000 pics I have from wildfires is on my hdd at home. I should be back on here today or maybe day after tomorrow.

Pretty funny. I remember watching David put them away while I was talking motorcycles with Julian and being a wet blanket at your place bemoaning the current state of my life in general.

THEN the bottle came out and it was shooters all around until when? Like 2:30?

Thanks again for hosting. You can host the next event with the money from David's CRV alone. :hammer::hammer:

Email sent to ya Griz:thumbup Had to get decals first. Now I'll start working on the other goodies.

Lexi or Endo would be happy to help you with your sig:flex:

Be safe and thanks again for helping Mother Nature. You know how it started?

LOL!! I was pretty trashed on the way up to the track. Good times.

You and Chapu have a good time tomorrow as I can't make it. I promissed a friend I'd meet him for coffee in the early AM about the time you go to bed.

Then I plan to go home and make the wife and kids a nice pancake breakfast. Then load up the family and drop my 5 year old off at dance class.

The wife and I will grab coffee and do some light food shopping. Then it will be off to the playground to let the little ones frolic on the swings in the sand.

The rest of the day will be tied up cleaning up the odds and ends I don't get a chance to handle working second shift; Read in large part listening to my wife unload her worries concerns and issues.

I'd like to be up early AM Sunday, again just before you get ready for bed to head out with VJ a new Dragon and rip a few roads. Get the feeling this guy likes to move quick.

Disclaimer....Master G was trashed the night before the track. Mrs. C/O fed him and we put him to bed early so he was bright eyes and bushy tailed in the am:fact
