Ease into it champ... Rather than just dive into water that you don't even know is deep you gotta test it first by walking in... Go for just one of those first... then if she accepts that you go to the second one...


For instance... Tell her you need tires yours are done and it's a hazard for you to be on the road with them in the condition they are in. She will obviously not want anything to happen to you so she'll agree with you on this... Tell her in order to compensate to the 55series tire your going to need your suspension reworked at the same time as the tires are done and if you don't it could put you in a vulnerable situation as your tire could bottom out (she isn't going to know the difference.) Let her know that also with your bigger tire WHICH IS GOING TO LAST LONGER AND GET YOUR MORE MILES (:crash) you need a little bit better gearing in order to leave lights quicker and be able to get outta bad situations like you did with the old tires :sneaky

Doc, right now I am about the last guy you should consider taking advise from. Here is what I know. There is no better way to get ahead with money then home ownership. Just because they didn't accept your offer on one house means you need to write two more offers on two different houses you can live with. Keep at it until your a home owner. I would be following my own advise but I leave the States in Dec. and there just isn't enough time to make it happen for me. Stock your bike is fine. You don't need those things....you want them. Let's be honest with ourselves. Lying about mods or motorcycles to your wife isn't the way to build a long lasting healthy relationship. Have a sit down and talk it out with her. Be prepared to give a little her way.

If the $1K is coming out of downpayment money or money that is liquid for closing costs etc. it is my firm recommendation that you don't spend it. In 5 years the upgrades on that bike won't mean anything to you. Now do me a favor. Don't tell me or anyone else, but add up your Rent Check each month for the next 5 years using your current rent. Granted this number in real life will keep climbing but for the purpose of my arguement pretend it won't.

Then decide which you would rather waste. $1K now and not have closing costs or downpayment money on a new home in which your current Rent Check is now earning equity or at the very least if you sell for what you paid would be a savings. Or new suspension and gearing? No brainer.

I'll call you and tell you what I really think. IMVHO you and the wife need to sit down and rehash the whole buying a home issue. Now like no other time for some time is the time to buy in the SD/SoCal area. :fact I have done my homework on this issue. My wifes unwillingness to buy conflicts so strongly with my desire to buy that it has caused us problems. (see my posts just after page 12 on the current trackday thread)

My advice. Forget the mods. Get tires come to the track and enjoy the sport at the financial level you can without putting your familys financial future further behind the power curve.

I think the Power Ones are pretty hyped up. They were a good tire on par or maybe a bit better then the PDC III's a tire I love on my '03 but have yet to run on my '09 for a direct comparo.

DOC, I ran the Power One 2CT's. They worked well for me. Depending on how they look I expect they'll be fine for you. Don't expect to use them much after the trackday.

Just got home. A friend of mine from one of the other engines on my district had to get medivac off the fire after he had a heat stroke, for those of you that are familiar with it, he was siezing and couldn't breath, it was that bad! His carreer is probably over and chances are he won't get to live a normal life again. It was only about 90* on the fire today and they were doing a hoselay and he is in pretty good shape.

His name is Zack, keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Please take this as a lesson to take care of yourself on the few days before, during and after the trackday! See ya there my friends.

the Big Meadow fire i was on til the begining of this month.... it was started by an escaped Prescribed burn in the park...

the original plans for the burn called for 50 acres in and around a meadow...of the 7000 acres that fire burnt...only 5 of the acres were inside the original prescribed burn plans... i almost feel sorry for the idiot that proposed a prescribe burn in august....

oh and the 181 hp at the wheel stock

well. for the same price you can have close to the same HP and traction control on an R1....plus other goodies

ahhh, finally finished my paperwork for this idiot and no one wants to deal with firing him because he claims "i feel like i have a target on my back because of my reputation and people single me out because of that" BULLSHIT! i have never worked with the guy before and didnt know his reputation before i called my captain and my division because he is an idiot and cant follow any instructions. and secondly, this is his first season with the forest service and noone know his last job, his "reputation" here is exactly who he is! this ****er needs to go.

i spent 4 years in acadamies and building my qualifications to get to a position that i enjoy, im not there yet because i have had supervisors that think paperwork is what they wipe their ass with.... on the other side of the coin, they hired a guy for this station last year that is one rank above me and IT WAS HIS FIRST YEAR IN FIRE! He lied on his app and no one caught it! instead of firing him they just say, "oh, he'll get caught up before too long." he is retarded, arrogant and extremely underqualified for his position. he spends a hour every day doing the crew times and manages to **** them up. my first year i was doing time for a helitack crew (twice as many peopl that werent all working the same schedule like our crew does) in half the time with no errors! AAARRRHHHH. i have to wait to get my GS6 until april cause i dont have 12 months as a GS5...bullshit! to make it worse, they hired an engineer here this year (GS7) that doent kno how to do the job of the first year gs-3 does! how the **** are you supposed to be a fire engineer if you dont know how a hosepack is made! or know anything about the engine you run? or how about a silly one like ENGINE SUPPRESION TACTICS! guy was a radio tech for most of his life and got into fire prevention a few years agon, now he is an engineer not because he has the quals or experience but because he was a gs6 in fire prevention and he qualified for a 7 job....

I decided to go on a lil scenic route and traveled down Pacific Coast highway to palomar airport road merged on the 5 and headed up north back to Oceanside. I was getting a little hungry and was trying to think of a cheap place to grab a little bite to eat or a snack and well while traveling down mission road found a dairy queen (even though its not healthy for you lol).

Parked my bike, stepped inside ordered a little ice cream cone w/ a bottled water and basically just chilled. A few folks stopped, whipped out there camera phones & took pics...I started to get a lil jealous and wished I was that cool getting all that attention but oh well lol

Highlight for me was when I was putting my gear on getting ready to get back on the road when a fine woman came up to me and asked me if her son (2 years old) could sit on the pilot seat and take a picture of them. I thought that was pretty cool.

I mean I guess some people hate the new look of the 09 R1 but I love it and it seems to catch people's attention when they see one parked on the side of road but the lil kids I've come across love the R1 emblem lol they asked me if I had any extra ones to give.

Oh...on another note I have yet to fully understand why 99.9% of GsxRee-tards have to mount a stupid Mohac on there helmets and try to stunt everywhere they go. Is that like the cats meow or something?:dunno

hey guys... i had an awesome day....... helped a buddy change his oil... or rather tried...... the oil filter had a bolt on it..... and it made it a pain to take off... then i look at him and find out that he turned the bolt the wrong way... and stripped it........ so then i put the bike on my truck and take it to the stealership (after about 12 hours of buying new tools to try to remove it and then returning it to the store cuz it didnt work.... oh well i tried... so the stealershipt takes off the filter with 0 issues... BUT NOW they found another issue...... when he took out nut that holds the oil in... they found out that he made a few too many turns (i seen the oil leak out myself) and they are going to charge him 120 bones to put a STUPID liner in so that it would make a proper seal.........


and this is why i went from a honda to a yamaha

and with all that said...... i am too drunk to keep typing........... nighty night

There is an opportunity to get a shiate load of free riding at Willow Streets for those that might be game. I have connection via a SD rider friend that offered to Dragons.

There is an organization that does a school at Streets. They need corner/flag workers. You can park bike at your station and ride every session that the students are in class. Every other 20 mins all day. Wear leathers and jump on track. You can also have the instructors lead you around the track at a sick pace to show you how done.

Most of these events are a 2 day deal. I'm looking for 2 guys not including my connect to join. We'll take RV and camp next to track with full hook ups.

There are a variety of dates coming up. Let me know who might do it and let's go ride the crap out of Streets:flex:
