I think DanQ had a good point with his comment, "Changing the sprockets to the same ratio with smaller sprockets would change the squat/anti squat properties of the drive train. Even though the gear ratio is numerically the same, the angles of the driveline compared to the angles of the swingarm would be different, thereby increasing the squat/anti squat properties and characteristics of that machine." I just don't think it would be that much of an issue unless you're racing a lot and trying to get the best drive/acceleration out of corners. If your stock setup is 17/45 your ratio is 2.647, if you change to 16/42 your ratio will be 2.625, so negligable but just slighty more to the top end. I think your question about clearance is an important one, particularly the top chain run, where it runs across the rubber slider on the swingarm. If you go to smaller sprockets both front and rear the chain will be riding/dragging more on the slider. Let alone the tighter bends on both ends to increase wear. These may offset any gains from less rotational mass. If that is your main reason for smaller sprockets, I'd stay with the stockers and keep the geometry as designed but consider a 520 setup in the stock gearing and possibly an aluminum sprocket.

I had them on before my crash and bent them so bad they were beyond repair... I couldn't force $400 out for them when putting the bike back to "road worthy" but I found a good deal on them on a local forum and picked them up again... Well, got some bad news today...

Looks like I, at the very least, have a "frozen shoulder", but it may be a problem with my rotator cuff. Hopefully, it'll be a simple fix requiring physical therapy for a couple months. If its severe, it'll require some surgery. I'll know more in the morning, but this sucks. I can ride, but only really short distances before it acts up and hurts like a S.O.B. This also means that the Corps isn't done with me for a while...

I still plan on being out there for the meet. I probably won't be on the bike though, it'll be in the back of the truck! If I can't ride for a while, I'll just keep her back there and take her where ever I go.

Like I said, I'll know more in the morning...

Normally only old people get it, but with the injuries I had a couple years ago they say its likely. I did break the shoulder blade among other things...

there should be a print screen button on the top row of your key board. then open Paint and paste it on there. now just save as a JPEG and you're good to go!
