Regardless, its the name of the squad and the logo that is used as a point of reference for the squad as a whole that was originally the topic at hand. So let me get this straight, riding ones street bike to meet up at a local hotspot where fellow riders get together to BS, show off their rides in person, and maybe chase some tail is apparently a bad thing or mocked as a "kickstand party", yet sitting at home typing away on a keyboard while staring at a monitor having a "keyboard party" is far better or representative of a true rider or lover of the sport according to you. I don't know about you but when I think of someone who's all about the forums and less about the in person get togethers the word "shut-in" comes to mind.
Its when people are at home anonymously posting that its far easier for them to run their mouths and write baseless BS statements that they can't back where in person if a guy is bragging how he ripps it up and down the twisties you don't have to take his word, all you have to do is look over at his tires and see how big (if any) his chicken strips are. Not to mention is person is where people like you are less likely to go running off at the mouth since there are typically direct and immediate consequences for such actions as questioning another guys “sack” or “Manhood” usually pisses a person off <and thats not a threat, thats just pointing out the way life works>. But no, your right, kickstand parties where one can be truly sociable in person are absolutely lame. Shut-in Keyboard parties trying to log tens of thousands of posts are waaaaay cooler and much more representative of what a true rider does. And before you say the obvious, I know there are plenty or deuschs that go to bike night, but there are just as many if not more that are on the forums (I.E. - Shervin). The only difference here is, the deusches on the forums are harder to spot than the ones in real life. You need to get over youself princess and quit being so critical of other people

If Rob feels like he is less of a man when he says he is a member of the R1-Forum Dragon Squadron to strangers, then like UB says....there are options. R1-Forum, Southwest group of R1-Forum, Squadron 14 of R1-Forum, online group, group of riding buddies, group of guys that go to track all the time, friends, group of R1 owners, etc.

The Dragon emblem existed before me and is one of the lesser significant aspects of this group as far as I am concerned. I have no issue with it, initiated the redesign and have created the decals and product accordingly. Above all I think it represents tradition. Negatory. But for some reason I've always had an affinity for words. Early on it clicked that (for the most part) words are by and large 100% how we communicate with each other. I hate to say it but if you didn't read the whole thing then you don't know the whole story or have the whole picture. But I don't blame you since there was alot to read (even though I did post the cliff notes:fact). I wasn't going on the offensive, I was taking the laundry list of baseless slanderous claims and setting the record straight. Originally all I did was beg the question as to what would be so wrong with looking into going with a name and logo that was maybe slightly (or alot) more relevant to the group and sport at hand. Then I come back from a fun as hell time in SD to find this multi-paragraph rant about how I'm sackless, needing attention from people at starbucks, have image issues, that the bike nights I go to on occasion don't represent that of a real rider, that I stand behind lables and groups as who I am.. I mean the dude went on to try to belittle everything from my riding skills, to my people skills, to the size of my sack <-which was a little homo-esq but whatever. When literally all he knows about me is my names is Rob and I ride a R1 in the Sacramento area. He was waaaay off base and out of line, especially for a C/O

Point is, he was talking out his ace and literally all I did was address all the baseless claims he made against me (which they were undoubtedly against me since he repeatedly referenced me not even my handle VVLF, but my first name,...which was a bit creepy). And for fun I threw a little mud back while I was at it :hammer:

Agreed, and if that is, indeed, the case, who cares what the emblem/mascot/sign of the squad is?

Its is what it is and at the end of the day its no sweat off my or (probly) anybody elses back. But the idea of ever telling an outside R1 rider not from the forum, "hey you should come ride with us sometime, we're the Dragon Squad" :crash <- just that thought alone makes me want to laugh out loud. Like half that sentence is missing, "hey you should come ride with us sometime, were the go-go power ranger dragon squad~ ". And before the jokes fly, those goofy-ass power rangers were before my time, but when I think mythical fairytale town creatures that make me laugh, power rangers and dragons seem synonymous IMO.
The dragon just seems too far outta left field.

(no names, please) For me, I didn't join the squad because they were named the Dragons, much as I didn't join in spite of the fact that they were named the Dragons. I joined because, as I assumed that you did from reading through your posts, there are some intelligent riders that also do track days and have a body of information to share, which they seem to do willingly. This has proven true for me in my experience with a number of members, surprisingly so for me since I have historically preferred riding solo or with one or two others.

...when really "dragon" squad is a good sized great group of guys with alot of talent and knowledge.
With ALLLLL that said, I still wouldn't leave this squad since I'm making the move to SD in December and can't wait to ride with a bunch of you guys. If I get booted because of all this or before then for some other reason so be it, but it'd be cool to have a group of good guys to go hit the twisties and do track days with right off the bat when I get down there

Again, agreed, absolutely. Ultimately, I hope you stay in the squad and we have some face-to-face conversations and the inevitable sh*t-talking sessions, in good spirits and fun. I think the conversations in person go a long way toward developing a better understanding, in the meantime - we have the internet. That being said, if you decide that squad participation is not for you, no hard feelings, I'll still buy you a drink. (don't flatter yourself, I like to drink)

Yeah I can't wait to get back, we should be back sometime around the first of the year. Luckily I'm not on the boat for the cruise, I got lucky enough to stay on dry land for the most of the deployment. Lotsa Air Force hoes around here :boobies! I can't wait to get back and get riding again.

Thats just it Brent, the whole discussion somehow went from why the Dragon was selected, what it represents, and what its core relevancy is, to the C/O of the squad telling one of the members (who did nothing but ask a simple and logical question) that he was sackless, without riding skills, people skills, having image issues, issues with his manhood yada yada yada <- when as I said it before and I will say it again (for the last time) it was all about trying to refine something into being even better. All he had to say was "we simply have too much time, money and effort vested in the Dragon "emblem" / name, and to change it would flat-out be more of a pain than its worth". But thats not what happened. And had I known that the Time and $ thing was the case I literally would have never asked the question in the first place.

But really this could've been called the Rainbow squad for all I cared. I didn't join for the image, nor did I propose the idea of a change because I was so worried about what others would think of me, I was just trying to state my case that to me the name and logo seemed odd and completely random. At the same time, even if this squad were called "Californias Fastest" squad, "We'll cut your head off and beat the shlt out of you with it" squad, or something really cool I still wouldn't be going around telling people since, its just an online forum club, not a MC club like the Aryan Brotherhood or Hells Angels. All I was trying to do was to get people to think and try to possibly consider the idea of taking the squads name and logo in a more relevant direction <- Really I think my examples that I had listed in prior posts came out wrong as though I was concerned, when really I was just trying to make my case via scenarios so that maybe the idea of a name change wouldn't seem like such a heinous or horrible thing..... before I knew what I know now :fact

So why do care if the squad is the Dragon Squad or the Pixie Dust Fairy Squad - which, granted, it sometimes appears that way? (no names, please) For me, I didn't join the squad because they were named the Dragons, much as I didn't join in spite of the fact that they were named the Dragons. I joined because, as I assumed that you did from reading through your posts, there are some intelligent riders that also do track days and have a body of information to share, which they seem to do willingly. This has proven true for me in my experience with a number of members, surprisingly so for me since I have historically preferred riding solo or with one or two others.

Thats exactly it Brent, really you just answered your own question. I knew this squad was called the "Dragons" and what their logo was when I joined. But I didn't join for the image. I joined because I wanted to ride with some cool, talented, like minded people. Thats all
But really I still don't care what the squads name is or what its "emblem" is. Respectfully all I was saying was that I thought it was a bit goofy in regard to the group and sport it pertained to. And that was really my point, its not soo goofy that it gives everyone an obvious laugh like being called the "Squids" or the "Drama Queens", but not so serious or on point that it really makes any sense. In my opinion it just seemed random to the point that it made very little sense. Again, all anyone in the know had to say to this seemingly new guy (me) that hasn't been here all that long is "its too much Time, $, and Effort to change so we're sticking with it"... And like I am now, I would've been 100% fine with it and dropped it immediately. Instead I got some responses with nothing but a lack of logic and reasoning, so I continued to pitch the idea (not to mention the low-brow, falacious, and radom isults on behalf of the C/O). In my mind, it would be fvckin awesome to see something either more relevant and on point, or something thats just down right hilarious, but the dragon, well respectfully to me it just sounds like someone was trying to think of something really cool or bad-ass to come up with but instead they landed on a creature from an asian fairy tale, or something out of a power ranger / Pokemon tv show "Slay the Dragon , Hiyah!" :hammer:. Either way a change isn't wanted and even if it was it wouldn't be that feasible, so case closed.



Again, agreed, absolutely. Ultimately, I hope you stay in the squad and we have some face-to-face conversations and the inevitable sh*t-talking sessions, in good spirits and fun. I think the conversations in person go a long way toward developing a better understanding, in the meantime - we have the internet. That being said, if you decide that squad participation is not for you, no hard feelings, I'll still buy you a drink. (don't flatter yourself, I like to drink)

Dave you have always been hospitable to the highest degree in the past and from what I can tell from my short time here (despite our spats) a great C/O. So you have my vote to stay in your current position of leadership (not that it really matters what my opinion is I'm sure). And I think it goes without saying that no one wants you gone or to step down. After having it outlined its obvious that a new emblem simply isn't feasible not to mention it sounds like there are enough people who are happy with the name and emblem the way it is. So the Dragon Stands, end of story :fact

All this boils down to is I was called out on the carpet for things that were said about me that were flat-out not true, and no matter the size or clout of the other person, I'M ALWAYS going to stand-up for myself. Really I was just caught off guard by the things that were said <- at the same time I realize its just an online forum so sometimes a guy has to let shlt roll off his back and say fugg it. But if I didn't at the very least make the correction then people have no reason not to think those things were anything but the truth, and there was no point in letting it go without stating my case.

Again this originally started with me thinking I was doing the right thing by proposing a way that the squad might be able to better itself in even the slightest and most insignificant of ways, not to start a mud slinging contest or make you guys suffer by reading my lengthy posts. Part of the ride takes you across the bridge he jumps off of in the beginning which is a cool spot

No experience with Gold's, been a member of both Bally's and 24 Hour Fitness. Going to let the membership to Bally's drop, if you are looking to be a member for three or more years, I found that 24 Hour Fitness is a better value. Better hours too, for the ones that I go to, and seems like 24 Hours has better maintenance.

He's trying to organize track competition at a distance. And the question came up about a woman rider from Dragon. It would involve riding local tracks and comparing lap times in comparison to the track record (percentage). I like the idea a lot, and it could be a serious deal.
