clos02 11-27-2008, 06:20 PM Nice bike...Congrats
James D G 11-27-2008, 06:58 PM Congrats, I can't help but love this bike, my first R1 was bought in spring of 98, I originally wanted the blue but the magazine reviews and such made me go back to the dealer and say 'I don't care if it comes in shit brown, I want one!' thus I rode away with the red seated bastard, which has now become my favorite. The money you've decided to spend on it is soo well worth it, you could never be happing trading it in for a 2020.

you can get it off UK Ebay too, there's a guy who sells the HRC packs on there, that's where I got mine, the translucent red tubing is also HRC :secret:
the red tubing was another of my compulsive buys, doesn't fit- ID too small, so it sits in my tool box :lol

of that generation R1 there were five (IMO) outstanding examples on this forum . . .
1. Firehawks R71
2. Blur1's
3. ChuckH's R71
4. ChuckH's Over Racing Ram Air
5. MartinC's
sad to say but it looks like only Blur1's is still around, so it looks like your going to have to build another special Chuck :secret:

I thought you parted out & sold the ram air beast, I remember the post, figured all the bits got bought up pretty quick
I'm surviving, the economy in Detroit is horrible, highest in the nation and 60,000 more jobs lost this week. I got a 12.5% pay cut and our 401k matching was eliminated, but I'm still working, hopefully they won't take more :rant

phrogs4ever 04-16-2009, 07:07 AM I am new to the form thing. Is the bike pictured yours? If it is, all I can say is WOW! Reading the long list of parts is cool and all. But if the bike looks like crap when the spending spree is over, to me it?s just wasted time and money. Not so in the case of what I am taking as your R1. I just hade to take a min and say, Great job and money well spent. She is truly a beautiful bike. Thank you for sharing her.

to answer your p.m, the clear green line is ten kate racing line. i just changed it with the new master. it goes cloudy after a while, so it needs regular changing.
there are clear lines ( yoyo' brembo i think) that some say don't sweat or discolor, but i like the clear green look.
oh yeah, my fluid is clear castrol srf fully synthetic.
it is the best, but be sitting down when you research the price of it!:flex::tocoo::lol

Nice thanks bud. The brakes on my bike are terrible. worst I ever had. If i ride for a half hour my lever pulls a significant amount more than when my brakes are cold. That is just normal riding in town or highway no hard braking at all. So i think i'll start with some braided lines and real fluid to see if it helps that.
James D G 10-11-2009, 09:11 PM Did you come across an amazing deal on the master or find it used? Curious why you would go that far before switching out the cast gold lines?
turd1 10-11-2009, 09:26 PM Did you come across an amazing deal on the master or find it used? Curious why you would go that far before switching out the cast gold lines?
got it brand new....cheap.
and the goldlines are great calipers 4 pad 4 piston per caliper.
i know many that prefer them to the h.p or cast monoblock series.:fact
trust me, the brakes on my bike are outstanding.

Badass. I'm glad the writer actually captured how important this bike is and didn't just ramble off the specs and re-write a review of the 98 R1. It was really well done.
Congrats. Seeing as this the only poster in existence of a Harris swinger, I'm going to be forced to pay you for a copy so I can quit porn and have my way with it daily. :thumbup
well Done Blur1.
Got the mag about a fortnight ago and loved the article. Very inspirational on what can be done to an "older" R1

to answer your question. that is a factory released pressure sensitive transfer that they give to race teams only.
i have/had a contact here with the michelin race teamguy that got them for me.
they are the same as rossi used when he ran with michelin.
they are not avaliable to the general public.
