I'd like to start by thanking Sal R1 for helping us out and getting this going. He's going to post up some rules and suggestions for decal/logo drawings. Since he manufacturers these, he will be the authority on what is possible.

Any suggestions by others on the forum besides prospective members is appreciated as well.

Remember, these will be up for public viewing, so keep it relatively clean. There will be a vote later so please keep criticism to a minimum, unless it is warranted.:thumbup j/k

I would like to congratulate Meister on being the CO & wish him & the Phantom squadron the best in the future.


After discussing this with Meister we thought it a good idea to clarify the guidelines for your guys new squadron logo.

The standard squadron size for a logo as used by all other squadrons is 3.5 inches. This size has worked out perfect for us as you can place that size logo pretty much anywhere on a bike & even your helmet if you choose.

So far all other squadrons have preferred a round shape logo but other shapes or designs are also viable.

According to squadron rules the logo must include the wording (Phantom Squadron), your squadron #s, in this case (R1-012) and R1-FORUM.COM. You can arrange these in any way you would like.

Its customary to incorporate an appropriated mascot, image or shape that your squadron can identify with! This is the real fun part as I have come to learn that there are many creative types among us!

The design cannot be overly complex with large amounts of detailing as it will need to made into a viable decal.

Attached is a rough sample logo that meets all squadron guidelines.

I would be happy to chime in and address any & all question you may have.

i kind of like the fangs, and the eyepatch with the tuning fork logo is pretty sweet...either way all of them are cool!

Personally I'm not keen on the pistons or the sort of balloon with Phantom Squadron in but like the skull and the wings sticking outside.
Sal is there any way you can drop the pistons and lower the skull and get the Squadron name back in a circle , would just like to see how that looked. :thumbup

At 3.5 inches at its widest point the Yamaha logo on the eye patch will be 0.3 inches across. Its borderline possible but without the fine detail. Simply too small. I will give it a shot.

Nothing I see in the rules is in question. So it is the decision of the CO and the squadron. As long as they are in agreement and it doesn't constantly change, I have no input.

I don't mind either skull, fangs or not, so that's down to squadron choice for me. I do prefer the R1 at the top and if you have to lose the eye patch that's fine too.

I know I'm not in your squadron but this is just a though here from a guy with a good eye. I think the wings don't match the menacing look of the skull. Perhaps if they were sharper or torn, more rugged. Maybe different kinds of wings. They seem a bit too....soft I guess.

I totaly see what youre saying, and I agree with you, although I do have to say though that there is a certain artistic aspect to the contrast of angelic wings and a demonic skull.

I like this guys thinking. The skull, however badass, is somewhat overdone. I liked the idea of the phantom jet. To me the lines of our bikes make me think of a fighter jet, but then again Im an idiot and should probably sit in the corner while important decisions are made lol.

It will be impossible to achieve unless the image was printed on the vinyl were in that case the inks will have the same property as regular stickers and the cost will be considerably more! Its also possible with regular stickers that have a border but it would cost many hundreds of $ just to get the artwork done and the run is usually in the thousands! If the run were in the 100 or so range even at those prices they would cost an arm and a leg!

Additionally unlike die cut vinyl decals were one solid color is in the vinyl, stickers will fade crack & peel after a period of time unless they are industrial quality such as the warning stickers on brand new bikes that cost considerably more.

Die cut vinyls that are rated for the outdoors come with a lifetime guarantee. :thumbup

Here are my official sumbissions for the logo. Hi res versions are available if needed.

Heres the deal with the ones I made, if you want a LIGHT colored vinyl, use the logo with the BLACK backround, for DARK vinyl, use the WHITE backround. That will help give you an idea of what it will look like. The backround color of the logo will be cut out, so it will be the color of your bike or whatever you stick it on.

No idea, I didnt create the original. I took the one with the skull and wings and just modified it.

Im assuming that youre willing to take a stab at it? If so, go ahead and choose a similar one to what we have, or what the other squadrons have. I dont think we are to picky on the font.

The round squadron logo is 3.5 inches in diameter & will also be available in a truck size 9 inch diameter. The R1-012 Squadron #s decal is 5 inch long.

They will be available in white, gloss black, flat black, red, metallic silver, metallic gold & 08 R1 gray silver.:yesnod

The cost is $11.99 for 5 decals including S/H.

2 round 3.5 inch squadron logos & 3 R1-011 squadron logos all as depicted in the picture.

I will be making a few revisions to the round logo as depicted above & post up again. :thumbup

I just applied the one in the pic to my computer. Came out perfect. :) I am in the proses of revamping the first page of the vendor thread to include the Phantom, Wolfpack & all other squadrons in a better format with plenty of pictures etc. :thumbup

The below/above decal however is not finalized! I was informed by NEVRMOR last night regarding certain differences between this decal & the one that won the vote. Hard to catch if you are not paying attention but i will amend it & post up again with a proof today. :thumbup
