I have a STM slipper. Really cool especially when you first install. You can slap down through the gears and the bike is much more planted. To be noted nothing a good throttle hand couldnt do... However, I'll rock the slipper from now on.

I purchased one for my 04 R1 even cheaper than what they were asking on Ebay. I called Ferracci directly and spoke to their Internet Sales Manager, made an offer, and he accepted my offer including free shipping. As to how it works! I couldn't tell you. It's waiting to be installed along with Carrozzeria forged wheels, Alth floating wave rotors, Driven sprockets, etc.. What i do know, is that it is the same product as the Yoyodyne slipper, the difference being the color anodizing and Ferracci's name being laser etched on it. I spoke with Fred from Yoyodyne about their clutch a while back, he told me that a few other people sell this same product with their own name on it, and it has been getting rave reviews. If I remember correctly, it is made by TSS in the Czech Republic and has had great success in World Supersport, World Superstock and World Superbike competition along with success in European National Championships. I take Fred's word as the Gospel, he has alot of experience and no need to B.S. anyone. He and I have mutual friends from the old racing days and the only reason that I didn't buy it from him was that I stumbled across the Feracci model for more than a few hundred bucks less. Last but not least, do your homework, I believe that the 04-05 model is the same. The 06 R1 model should be different as with STM and other brands out there, they're carrying a different part number for the 06 R1 model. Good luck, maybe ask Forum members how they like their Yoyodyne, you should get your answer.:dunno

Hey guys, I just purchased a Fast By Ferracci slipper clutch and am about to install it. I purchased it on E-bay and I to got it cheaper with an offer instead of buy-it-now price. One huge problem though, the instructions are in Italian and the translation is very poor and hard to understand what you are supposed to do. There is something about assembling the clutch and steels in a different order, but not sure exactly how they want it. And there is a clearance spec that I believe is in decimal point? Not 100% sure. And lastly, it came with the spider spring assembled and there is another one as a 1)spare? or 2)a different spring pressure? Not sure on this also. If any one has ever put one of these on please pass on the info. I have called the tech support and the person I talked to gave me two different answers to the same question :dundun:

If any one has ever put one of these on please pass on the info. I have called the tech support and the person I talked to gave me two different answers to the same question :dundun: You have to change the order of the first two plates as compared to your stock set up. The stock set up has one thinner friction plate and one different steel. If you do not swap the order of these different plates, they may get lodged between the clutch hub and back plate when the clutch slips (slips from back torque in deceleration). Install the next thicker plates first, closest to the backplate, then install the thinner two next. All others will be same as stock, you're just shuffling the order around a bit. The clearance should be approximately 1.0 mm, measured through the inspection hole on the pressure plate after fully assembled. If this clearance is too small, clutch won't slip properly, too much, and it will slip too much. Mine came with two springs also, they are the same. One is a spare. They recommend changing the spider spring after so many races or trackdays, I believe eight or so. On the street this unit shouldn't be slipping as much, unless you're banging extra agressive downshifts on purpose and not timing your throttle blip and downshifts so smoothly. The spring should last thousands of miles on the street. Mine came with two sets of instructions. One from manufacturer and one from Ferracci. They both suck and contradict each other. Do a web search for TSS slipper clutch, they're the manufacturer. You should be able to find detailed pics of the procedure. Just beware that TSS does not state to shuffle the stock plate order. I think that that issue came up later with people using other than Factory Yamaha clutch plates and not being able to get the proper stack height. The amount of slip can be adjusted with different spring buckels, as they call them. These will change the stack height/pressure for less slip if you prefer more engine braking than the base set up. I hope this helps you out. If you still can't figure it out, give Fred a call at Yoyodyne, he knows the products he sells and he's quite the character. He also carries spare parts for these units. Tell him that I recommended you to him. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yamaha 100X3, have you installed your slipper clutch yet? I just got mine installed last Sunday and have been having a blast since. Works exactly like it is suppose to. No wheel hopping on hard downshifting and definitely slips when the RPM's skyrocket when downshifting before cornering. It almost makes throttle 'bliping' unnecessary, I still do out of habit though. Only thing I do not like is when you downshift you feel a 'click' at the clutch lever when the clutch pedal is depressed for downshifting. Does not do it when you upshift. Nothing major, but definitely there. Does anyone know what is the cause of the lever 'click' ? Just wanted to find out if that is normal or do I need to tear it down and inspect. I know of two other R1's like mine with different slipper clutches and none of them make this 'clicking' feel. I dunno :dunno

i had my bike at ferracci waiting for it to be fixed for over two months when i could have just done it myself. they kept feeding me bs about the parts being on backorder when really, yamaha cut their credit. I had to fnd that out from yamaha. then when i finally got the bike back home, i realized they never put a heat shield on the new fairing. you'd be better off if they didn't manufacturer it.

No, I haven't installed mine yet. The clicking feel is normal at the clutch lever. You're feeling the clutch freewheel then the balls move out then slip. All the Yoyodyne/TSS/Ferracci slippers do that. Did you use Factory Yamaha clutch components for the swap and follow the plate swap order? I hope to do mine soon along with all the other goodies that I purchased over the winter. I am also considering the 07/08 shock swap and would love to talk to you about that. Please PM me your phone number so that we can chat. I am currently vacationing in New Orleans, what a blast! I will check back in when I get home, as trying to type and post from my PDA/Sidekick is a total pain in the a$$. Talk to you soon, ride safely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I did install the factory clutch and steels in the order you suggested and it worked out perfectly. The clearance was a little on the low side (not quite enough) but nevertheless works great. Thanks for your input. I only got the instructions in Italian. I did get it translated by my ex-girlfriends Italian mother and you were right about the change in clutch/ friction order. :thumbup. PM'd you about the R1 shock.

I am seeing from most of the posting about Fast by Ferracci that his service and ability to repair motorcycles leave a lot to be desired. I kind of got that feeling when I called about my slipper clutch and they seemed to have no clue what I needed to change and just the general installation of the part :drunk:. At least I had a good experience with the parts, probably because they do not make the product, they just sell it. Either way the back torque limiting clutch rocks! :rock
