Well the goodfellas at R1 Forum have been good enough to give us some space, and we don't use it...

....So I am going to start some inane drivel to see if I can prompt some conversation good or bad...

R1's are going to be big again aren't they after the UK press have fallen in love with the engine.. the 'newbike every year' jockeys should be queueing up even though Woolworths has gone to the wall and someones spent someones money...

I personally can't get to like the looks yet.. but I have got an 06 Raven!! ;)

Went to CMC at Chesterfield for the launch with Stalker and a bloke called McElnea... it does sound well... can't wait to hear a povic'd beast...

Also went to Sheffield egg run on Sunday.... had a cold tyre, knee down TOO far incident which has prompted me to change the tyres... current cost of repairs is ?16 in genuine parts... but I have yet to find a genuine YEC replacement mushroom.... (it saved the bike!).... have invested in a carbon clutch cover as the lever guard was close to death.....

Gone for Metzelers M3's as they were awesome on my '01 R1... they look horny too...

Looking forward to the summer, not sure about Donington building site... lets see if they can still pull of a reasonable event... not that they could organise a piss up in a brewery.... best thing I saw was the waiter from the pitstop diner stood at the paddock entrance with a tray of food for an hour as the gorillas on the gate didn't like his pass colour!

Can't think of any mods for the bike at the min as I love its looks and performance... 188mph doing a flyby on an Evo 9 MR was fun enough...

Any road... any more northern monkeys else up for a chat.....

Well found crash bung replacement....

Listed in accessories manual under Fazer as an option... but not listed for any other bike... Soming friday so we'll see if it fits ok.
Part number : 5SL-W9741-00-00
...it comes with the bolt so that may be the difference... 20 quid sounds a lot better than 150 plus

Got a carbon clutch cover... not sure about the looks yet...

Metzeler M3's are on... 10 full miles on them so taking it easy...

Bike got a 3 stage Meguiars polish last night to cheer it up...

...considering lacquering the screen as it has Mr Rossi's sig on it from Rally GB...

Any one of the 14 post viewers want to contribute to the squadron forum??

Mate, the other day I went up the Cat & Fiddle, then the Snake pass and onto Lady Bower Reservoir. It's the first time I've done it and as soon as the chuffing weather sorts itself out, I'll be doing it again, it was absolutely brilliant.

The pass would have been even better had my contact lense in my left eye had not been playing up. I had to stop in one of the lay bys and sort it out, only to find a hair behind the lense! I then went to put it back in and the sodding wind blew it off my finger!

Half blind and totally P****d off, I spent the next 20 minutes digging around the gravel car park trying to find it with no luck. After resigning to the fact I had a two hour ride home half blind, I got back on the bike and as I looked down at the clocks, I saw the lens just next to the tank!!:rock

Great day out, and Ladybower is awesome.

Do you ever go that way?

I have done the Cat and Fiddle a fair bit.. The ride from Sheffield down through Bakewell and through Buxton on the A6 is good too, some real nice roads...
...THe bump in the road on the last corner before the pub is my favourite bit of the Cat and Fiddle... THe other stuff is fantastically technical...
When I go to Oulton Park I usually take that in... In those times I have found a corner covered in diesel with some kids watching on the hillside.. and one of the blind hairpin corners dropping down fromt he pub I met an abandoned car in he middle of the road!!
That was plain eerie!
...maybe not as scary as doing it with blurred vision!! ;)

Fantastic roads... Did it in a 300hoss impreza and it wasn't half as much fun... :(

....Do you ever ride across to Matlock for the meet?

Other places I tend to go are Willingham Woods and Squires...

Well...

Tyres have not even done 60 miles yet... was going to use the bike today for work.. Rain I can deal with... Gusty Gale force winds are something else when battling South Yorkshire traffic...

Forecast is cack all week and I am dying to get the release agent of the new rubber...

Hope the weekend is fine...

Been over to Matlock a few times but I tend to go during the week due to my work shift patterns. Means the roads are nice and empty.

Had a look where Willingham Woods is, and it is miles away from me. Might ride there one day there as a challenge I think!

The echo is being drowned out nowadays, the sound of dozers coming in to clear the site for a new squadron is looming large!!!

I'm up in Cumbria/Borders and the weather really sucks, usually on the days I want to get out. Todays plan for SW Scotland then down & over Hartside (Penrith/Alston) have been put on hold as a jetski would've been more use to me.
