The straight skinny on our AMA efforts with the kid:confused: Got off the phone with Spiros, the team owner. Our other rider Nobi is not due in to Oregon due to a family matter in Japan til Mar 26. The new Aprilia won't be here for 10 more days:no so............ we've scaled back our Fontana plans on Apr 6-7. Not enuf time to dial in the bikes and not get embarassed at a national. Instead we are going to use our local OMRRA race dates of Apr 19- 21 to get LOTS of seat time, suspension and jetting issues sorted out locally before venturing South to Sears point on May 4-5.
While I'm dissapointed:( we also want to be ready to do well at the national level. Kicking everyones butt :butt in the NW is nice, but being able to run up front with Sorensen, Sands, Oliver et al is where we are at. As a Dad and former pro racer myself my #1 concern is Jonah's safety. He's EXTREMELY talented, but the pressure to run up front might overwhelm his judgement at Fontana with vitually no seat time, so We feel sears point is More realistic.
