i just ordered the velocity stacks and slide stops for my 02 r1, i was wondering if this will make noticible power or not, also i know i have to get it tuned but i was planning on putting these parts on myself to save money. is there anyway i can put these on and still ride it to the dyno shop or do i need to tow it. thanks for ur info and help, erik

You twist and the air and fuel will immediately enter as opposed to going through another set of slides. Plus this should also offer some definite power increases as well (and more importantly) it should make for a better all around power band where you get more usable power down low and further up in the RPM. Velocity stacks will also offer you horsepower you will feel. The job of a velocity stack is to control the air and fuel entering the cylinder head. They help in atomizing the fuel coming in which means it makes it easier to burn. The more fuel that is getting burned the more power and the better fuel economy. You are pulling more usable fuel and air in ...faster and more efficient. There is probably more science to it but that is over my head. As it goes for riding the bike to the dyno shop. These additions do require more fuel however if you ride her easy for a short period I think you will be just fine. I would not go and race her through the canyons for 5 hours but a quick ride to the dyno shop should not hurt. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Taige

awesome, thank you very much. just one more thing. do i need to get the smog plates to get it dynoed? They have to block off the smog equipment before they perform the dyno. The block offs clean up the engine compartment at the same time as blocking the smog off . I installed them on my R6 and it was well worth the time and $$. T

ok thanks man, how much hp should i be lookin at? A lot of variables there. Just know that you are adding more fuel and air to the bike and burning it more effiently. It will show horsepower increase and be a lot more fun to ride. T

Does anyone make any performance upgrades for the carbed r1's anymore. It seems these upgrades are had to come by. I've already gotten custom needles, aftermarket airfilter, akrapovic full titanium race exhaust....but, what else is out there. Not just engine stuff (although I want that stuff too), but overall performance stuff. Please help.
