Has anyone replaced stock steering damper, if so, how did you get rid of warning light that comes on when you disconnect stock steering damper?
I've put ohlins steering damper on my R1 and now yellow light with a wrench is on.

have you unplugged the wires from the stock at the other end? I have still to remove the wires, it should cut off light?. you can join the ends but the light comes on when you get some speed up.

I'm not sure I understand, I have unplugged wires at the first connector(on the left side of the bike, close to where air intake goes through the frame), are you saying i have to unplug more wires?

you will probably need to wire in a resistor between the open pins of the plug, you should ohm out the damper and find a resistor with a value close to it.
Resistor did the trick, i've put 50 ohm 5 watt resistor and the warning light is gone.

Is it that big of an issue? I put the GPR dampner on, doesnt need to go where my stockie is, they told me too that they hadnt developed a module yet that'll fix that issue. but i said who needs it off? Any long term problems this way? or is it just gunna be like a 3-5 lbs increase by not takin it off?

+100 GPR is where its at, so for no issues with using it. Ive Always had a GPR on my '05 R1 with the stock dampner, ive always swore by em.

Dampers mask suspension/geometry issues. ;-)

SOOO, the warning light of doom...I talked to the GPR reps at Laguna Seca, cause i was bumed there was all this talk about a correct module to use when taking off the stock dampner and i hadn't received mine. Yea, there is no way yet to get around the light. They told me straight up they are in the development of new one that will do the trick, but as for now, all that were made and distributed still turn on after, i wanna say he said 120mph. Suckie.
