Hey All,
Quick question and interested in some of your thoughts. I have an 09 R1, which I purchased brand new with 1 mile on it. I had the 600 mile service and now have about 2500 miles on it. Since I have had the bike there have been three occasions, where the bike has "jerked" forward. Every time this has happened, I have been going somewhat hard on the throttle and this "lunging" behavior only happens around 81 MPH or so. I have tried to replicate the problem with a very smooth throttle or really pulling on it and it just seems to happen randomly.
I have made no major changes to the bike at this point with the exception of a new rear tire, so essentially the bike is still stock. Any thoughts?
Regards,
Andrew

how bad is this lunge ? arm puller?
maybe it's that ycctccmic.key.mou.se system going whacko
Hey all,
No bump...
...and when the lunge occurs it is quite severe and all occasions scared the shit outta me.

well since you say it seems to happen around 81mph, that's only 7 off from 88mph, and that's when the flux capacitor kicks in. :D sounds to me like a computer fueling issue where the retardation/limiting of the throttle bodies by the ECU is possibly failing. I would suggest have a dealer run an ECU diagnostic on it. Perhaps your bike is trying to break free of the 80% throttle opening restriction in the upper rpms!

That's funny...I was actually going to state that perhaps my flux capacitor was broken :). I will take it to the dealer and have 'em take a look.
Thanks,

This behavior scared the shit out of me a few days ago. 1st gear, WOT and around 120 km/h the bike jerked and the front lightened up alot. I have the EU version ...
My bike is going into the shop tomorrow to run diagnostics on this...I'll keep ya informed.

Mine was doing that AT THE DAMN TRACK at Jennings my first weekend out. My problem was with the PC V and the Auto-Tune. Not so happy with my PC V or Auto-Tune. Still trying to work out the kinks. Anyone think the Throttle By Wire could be ****ing with the Power Commanders?

This sounds like an ongoing problem with the 09's. Interested to know what the fix/problem is. Keep updating as you get the info!!

Yeah. I think it's a combo of the Throttle By Wire, and the mode switch. I heard alot of people are starting to ride around in A mode as it actually makes the low RPMS smoother.
Got the bike back today. Shop cannot find anything wrong with it. They stated they called Yamaha and were told that Yamaha is not aware of any such issues with the 09 R1. Was recommended to put bike on a dyno to test it out at high speed.

To be honest, I was expecting this. Gremlins aren't easy to find.
