excuse me if they are dumb questions
ok so i have been talking to a few people about tires. I am now going to run Pilot Powers but heres where i could use some outside advice
First off i would like to say the main opinion i have is from a former R1 owner whos advice i am taking seriously due to his experience i am just looking for some more input
so i am considering switching to a 180/50 as opposed to the 190/50
How much of a change will i have in the size of the contact patch?
I am not an aggressive rider most of the time so should i be concerned?
I will be doing my first track day with these tires and up until now only know the 190 do you or anyone you know run the 180?
Would i be better suited to run a 190/55?
Ok with those out of the way....
what i am looking to do is build my confidence back up in my R1. sadly enough a GSXR 600 has shattered it and just want to get the R1 to feel as stable in the corners as the Gixxah dude.
When i get mid corner with the R1 it feels like the R1 just wants to slide right out from under itself and this is under not so aggressive cornering i can be steady to slightly (i emphasize slightly) increasing throttle and like i said the front just seems to want to let go.
I am gonna be getting the sag setup and also they will be working with me and my bike at the trackday to get the suspension setup for me.
So i am not looking for suspension answers i know it needs to be done and its already in the works
but the tires on the other hand are something i have to buy and cannot adjust once they are installed lol
so any input would be great I am considering just going with the 190/55 as opposed to the 180/50 but i would really like to try the 180 but am not set on buying anything yet until i am 100% convinced one way or the other about what i am getting into
btw the setup on the gsxr is a 180/55 and its just drops into corners.
if i can get that out of the R1 and get the suspension set to the point where I can start to improve my confidence in my riding abilities then I will have accomplished something this season. (it has been over a year since i have seriously ridden the R1 like i used to)
