Pump Accel Settings on Power Commander

I was told that I could use Pump Accel to make the gas ease in a little better (when barely cracking the throttle just as you go into a turn) to prevent the jump/thunk that occurs. The thought was that it can be adjusted to "dampen" throttle input for the next "X" rpms as you roll the throttle, but I can't find anything that indicates this type of use. How are others using this functionality?

Bump.

I don't think it will work for that. For one, I don't believe hat the AC feature is sensitive enough to see you crack the throttle, it's meant for when you grab handful. In my testing I couldn't get it to do anything on my '02 R1. Also, the "hit" is generally from the injectors turning back on, adding more fuel would make it worse.

Yeah -- that is what it sounds like after reading more about it. Seems like a good idea though, its difficult to crack the throttle with no lunge coming fast into a corner, though i'm sure it'll come around with more seat time.

Try adjusting the throttle cable tight enough so it just barely still hits the stops.

Cool - i'll give that a shot. Thanks.

It's interesting to read in the Roadracing World shootout that they had the same complaint as i do about the throttle in mid corner (cracking it open): "One of the biggest issues with the Yamaha, something that has really hurt its score, was the throttle response when going from closed to open throttle in the middle of corners. When drive mode was set to Standard, the response was described as abrupt. When drive mode was set to A (which opens the butterflies in the throttle body at a quicker rate) the response got even worse."

yeah the 09 seems to come with a lot of freeplay in the throttle cables as I found this when I picked mine up, adjusted it and have no issues now.

I did adjust the cable, and while it helped a little, there is still that abruptness when the butterflies open that i would love to figure out a way to smooth out.

Hmmm... it's interesting. I could read about this abrupt response from throttle opening here and there. I tell you, mine is so smooth in STD mode, i still wonder while opening how they did that. It's near a 2 stroke where it first bangs a few times before it accelerates. Could it be, that it's a side effect of the US version? Euro here... Euro guys with the same problem existent? Food for thoughts: - Throttle body adjustment - Idle CO (diag mode)

I think the throttle response is pretty smooth once the butterflies open. It's just at that initial point when in the turn and you are just cracking the throttle (and would desire absolutely no initial jerkiness or "thunk" to disrupt your traction). Once on it's great...

the accel pump lets you adjust the fuel from -100% to +100% for up to 40 revs so it would be possible to "dampen" the throttle input

The short answer is no.
