Leo full system fitment

Just an FYI for anyone who is attempting a full Leo Vince system install. I hammered, pushed, shoved and tried to get these headers to fit tighter into the first mid-pipe section so they are more alligned than you see at the seam here, but they seem to be a real tight fit. I think they are ok, as I don't seem to discern any leaks from the area. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/strat1701/09%20R1/P5301808.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/strat1701/09%20R1/P5301811.jpg When she's on the airflow at the tail is good and strong, so I don't think there are any leaks up ahead (I'm assuming that's a good way to tell?) I don't see any smoke (not that I should with an engine that doesn't burn oil or anything) nor seem to smell any exhaust at the headers and mid pipes, so my question is, is this sorta cock-eyed fittment ok to run or should I take everything off again and re-try? I found the best way to get them to fit was to get them to the mid pipes first and then muscle them onto the headers. Leo's video has you start at the front and work your way back, and yeah they say they fit tight (no kidding!) The headers look like there is a lot more room to access the oil filter now, kinda hard to see in this pic but it does give you a few more milimeters of clearance: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/strat1701/09%20R1/P5301812.jpg Header gaskets like to roll around everywhere, keep track of them!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm doing a set of these next week, so I'd appreciate anything you find out.

I ended up assembling the 2nd and 3rd headers to the bike first, keeping ALL bolts loose. Then I was able to fit the primaries. #4 (right side) did not completely seat at first. I tightened up all the bolts after this. Went for a ride, came back and tightened up everything again and #4 seated during the ride.

Had the same problem as you did. It really helped by using an anti-seized grease prior to putting it all together. I did get the system to fit better after riding for a bit, loosening the bolts and trying again.

Same issue for me. White Lithium grease helped a lot (on each fitting). Not sure that is the best lubricant for this, but it seemed to work well with no issues yet (many track days later).

When I did mine I had a couple of parts that just didn't want to seat fully up with each other. I ran out of lubricant to use so I used this http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:qsooV9jlo8P4uM:http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_RWLN0Lh_LNE/R0vbTEBIwjI/AAAAAAAAARo/pQ-RpXWRvVM/s400/Chap+Stick.jpg and it worked like a champ. It also burned off and left a very nice cherry smell in the air I also found no signs of dryness either:dunno
