2009 R1 - how much oil?

With a filter change I am wondering how much oil 2009 R1 owners are putting in the bike. I put in one gallon of Motul 10w40 and my site window in nearly to the top when I sit the motorcycle upright, not on the side stand, with the motorcycle off. Service manual states 4.15 US qt. Thanks.

well there are 4 qts in a gal so i would say it is pretty close ;)

Well I bought some more oil and added another 100 ml.

Technically speaking you could be 0.050ml low. Better check the plumb of the bike with a "Bob" and check it again. www.onlineconversion.com

i bought 4L bottles.. used almost all 4...left a little tiny bit out of the last bottle. perfect amount..1.05qt x 4= 4.20qt... U need 4.15qt......and i think its actually 1.06qt in each bottle to be exact haha...

3.8 - 9 ltr does the trick for me.

I put in 4qts even my last change. I do not prefill the oil filter. Cold, the level rests 2/3 the way to the top line of the window. Hot after a ride, the window is filled. My first oil change I put a hair over 4 qts so you're probably just fine.
