NOTE:
11. Install:
 clutch cover
 clutch cover gasket New
Install the pull rod so that the teeth a face towards
the rear of the motorcycle. Then, install
the clutch cover.
 Apply oil onto the bearing.
Apply molybdenum disulfide grease onto the
pull rod.
When installing the clutch cover, push the pull
lever and check that the punch mark a on the
pull lever aligns with the mark b on the clutch
cover. Make sure that the pull rod teeth and
pull lever shaft pinion gear are engaged.
Tighten the clutch cover bolts in stages and in
a crisscross pattern.

Here's a note I copied out of the service manual. I've not had to change one yet so I can't help with any tips...sorry.

I usually remove the oil cap and shine a flashlight down the hole so I can see whats going on. Helps if you have a buddy.

the first time i tried i was doing it by myself at night with my car headlights pointed at the bike, so i didn't have a free hand for a flashlight. i got my dad to help me and with the two of us it didn't take too long. thanks.
