XSB FAN CONTROL FAQ SHEET
FAQ:
If the switch is left off will the fan turn on like normal?
Yes, The XSB Fan Control is wired in parallel to the OEM fan relay. If the switch is left off the cooling fan will continue to operate as it did from the factory, which is just about before catastrophic engine failure!
FAQ:
How does it get installed?
The XSB Fan Control comes with detailed step by step photographic instructions, tech support, and wiring schematic. The three OEM relay wires are removed with supplied terminal tool from the OEM fan control relay. Three new XSB wires are inserted into OEM relay connector and lock into place. The Oem wires removed connect to three new XSB wires and are sealed with dual wall polyeflin heat shrink; this seals the wires together with glue and will not loose connection. This all done without any cutting, splicing or soldering and is a simple install for any one that has
basic electrical skills and can follow instructions.
FAQ:
Can't just a simple switch be used instead?
Yes, a switch can be used but depending on how its hooked up, it will set the check engine light or you will need a high current switch and heavy wiring and of course hack into your factory harness, not to mention you will need a factory manual and be competent in electrical engineering.
With the XSB Fan Control there is no cutting, splicing or soldering and uses a secondary relay to transfer the power through the stock wiring harness to the fan. Done this way there will not be an increased current draw. Low current is run through the included switch. The rocker switch has an indicator LED that lights up so the rider can monitor fan operation compared to coolant temperature of the bike. This is by far the cleanest, easiest and best way to add this sort of device. It will not render the vehicle modified or damaged. The unit can even be removed and returned completely back to stock. The XSB Fan control is made with the finest components available and comes with extensive photographic instructions and tech support.
FAQ:
How can simply turning on a fan make more power?
There are two keys factors when discussing this. It has been proven by the "SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS" that 20* less coolant temperature yeilds 1% increase in power. Since there is a typical reduction of 40* thats and increase of about 2 horsepower. Engines also are enabled 1* of ignition timing in the calibration per 20* of coolant temp. 1* makes about 4-5 horsepower. Thats an average of 8-12* possible.
