Happy 4th. I spent the night detailing my new ride. :drunk:

Here she is. Now I must figure out how to get into the air box. I think I need to lift the tank? :dunno

I have a few Questions. If I take it to the dealer for a check up. Does this sound like a good list of things to have checked? Valves, plugs, air filter, I will do the oil change, check all the linkages, inspect and re-grease the bearings, inspect the brakes, adjust the clutch and throttle cables, go through ECU diagnostics and make sure every things within spec, check the tires, welds on the frame. just to name a couple.

yes to get to the air box you need to lift the tank. I found it easyer to just take it off the bike.

I did get in to the air box, and cleaned it out. Need to get better filter.

Here are all the girls lined up with no place to go.
This winter the GSXR 1100 get a full body work over.

bikes looks good man

your garage is like mine, packed full of bikes.....just alot cleaner

before we know what you should have done we need to know a little background

how many miles are on it?
when was the last oil change? time and mileage
how long was it sitting?
did the previous owner live in a dusty area?

honestly the service is pretty easy to do if you are mechanically inclined

o and go look up the service manual on here....it gives a detailed description of service intervals

The bike is @ 7800 miles. It was in a dusty area and I don't think the oil has every been changed. I cleaned out the air box. it really was not as bad as I thought. I am a Amsoil guy, and have out in a order of synthetic. As far as the bikes running character goes. I believe there is some hesitation. I think that the acceleration from 10mph up should be crisper. I just read a thread on doing the spark plugs, and will follow through with that next time I'm home. I have also ordered a new air filter from Yamaha. The chain was way dry, so after about 1/2 of a can of PJ1, and half a can WD40 to clean up the spray, I hope that I can get a few more miles out before I upgrade that.

The poor R1 story is lots of burnout in bars in Montana buy drunken Indians.:drunk: :crash :rock :ugh

She is so much better of now. :)

I'm out on the road for the next 2 1/2 weeks, trucking. Thanks for the response. I will check back in a few days.

k cool 7800 miles on the original oil is hell

pure one filter and 1040 synthetic will do you well

either way enjoyh the r1

it has a slipper clutch so you have to rev it at lower rpms to have it not bog

the bike is fast as balls and i am grabbing a -1 front this week so ill tell you how i like it

Sweet. I got home today for a few hours. So I removed the Yamaha stickers and the R-1 stickers. Looks great without logos all over it. I also removed the rear fender and fabricated a aluminum bracket to hold the blinkers. not bad for under $10.

FWIW, most people will swear up&down that the stock filter will work just as good or better than a high-priced aftermarket re-usable air-filter...

:dunno

Nice R1 though... Now just sell that old Gixxer & mod the shitt outta that biotch with the $$$...!

:flex: . :hammer:

NO stickers sweet! Btw A&R race baffles are a cheap way to customize your exhaust. http://www.aandrmotorsport.com/store/yamaha/r1/exhaust/baffle-kits/yamaha-2007-r1-racing-baffle-kit.html Also when you have your cans off pull the Y pipe and take a drill bit to your cat. Sounds great!!

Sell the old GSXR 1100 is a option that I have thought about. It is worth allot more once I have done a quick restoration to it.

Here is a pic of no stickers, no rear foot pegs, no rear fender and custom fabricated rear blinkers and lic. plate mount.

I have been scrubbing and cleaning this thing.

When I do the tune up, ie oil, plugs, and factory air filter, I will detail the motor and plastic.

Any suggestion on how to lift off those stubborn, sun baked bug splatters?

Baffle kit? SO I remove the rivets, pull the sock baffle out and install the aftermarket one, right? sounds easy and I like the price....

Soak a towl in warm water let it sit on the bugs for a while they lift right off. Get a intergrated tail light to ditch the rear blinkers.:rock

EASY the cat is in the Y pipe on my bike. You pull the cans off, pull the Y pipe take a drill bit and a screwdriver to the cat. Start to finish 30-45 min.

I will be doing the race baffles. Do I need to adjust the ECU, or will it run fine? I don't think that I will jump in to gutting the cat just yet...

I finished this up this weekend. I got the hipper Blue LED that can be seen for at least 100 yrds. I asked the WSP if it was ok. We could not find anything @ wa.leg.gov that indicated that 1 blue light on motor cycles was illegal. I got the amber lights at a truck stop and painted the whole thing with Hammerite grey. like 4 coats. :flex:

Apparently their ad is incorrect. They don't have a running dino so I went with one of the maps on Power commander's site. M421-008 Graves full exhaust, Stock or aftermarket air filter

I post them on photobucket, than cute and past the IM code into the message box. Glade you asked. I was trying to make the thumb nail that every one else seems to be posting. No clue.. I have a power commander question. Do I have to buy the PC III, or can I use a friends to set up my bike? I was just trying to cut $$ corners.

Depends on what model of commander your friend has. They plug directly in line with your injectors so they are year/model specific. Thanks for the photobucket trick the thumbnail thing is annoying. Here is the install instructions, http://www.powercommander.com/downloads/421/install/411/eng421-411.pdf It's really easy to install. I found mine on sale for $260.00 so I jumped on it.

Where's your plate gonna go...? And what's the sense of having a rear-pointing LED, it needs to shine on the plate...?

Good work, but I think you need to redesign it...

This is what I did. Just one piece of 3/16" aluminum plate cut into a sort-of 'T'-shape...

I didn't put the extra holes in mine for the signals, but it'll keep it legal if you do...

I re-used the stock plate-light just put 2 small 1/2" long self-tappers through the plastic into the metal

I will keep my eye out for a deal on the PC III.

I just picked up a 4 LED lic. plate light @ the Iowa I-80 truck stop. www.iowa80truckstop.com

I put one of these on my Concourse, and it looks sweet.

I will post a pic of the plate mounting in about 12 days when I get home. I pulled the passanger foot pegs and used those holes to mount the lic. plate. I cut a 3in piece of "L" bar aluminume and than mounted the OEM lic. plate bracket to that. Added a plate frame and some red LED. Looks sharp @ night. As far as the Blue hyper LED goes, it is all about safety. I saw some state patrol bikes with the blue LED and thought that I would check with the local law to see if I could do the same. They said only 1 LED that does not flash is OK. You can see this from a 1/3 mile.

So the WASP said one blue LED in the rear is ok?
