I searched a little and couldnt find any threads about it. Is it illegal to paint your windscreen? I could just see this being something the cops around here would be a stickler about but I was just curious if its legal or not.

mine is painted. has been for almost 2 years. the bike before this was as well. never even thought about it being legal. i would laugh if i got pulled over for that. i live in wyo, but rode in oregon for 3 months last summer, and those guys didnt say a thing either. osp are generally known as dicks too.

I've got a carbon windscreen on my R6 and never had any troubles from the POPO with it..
I know this is common sense, but don't forget that you lose a good chunk of your line of sight when you're fully tucked with a painted screen.
Do what you will to suit your style, but full tuck vision goes out the window.

Mine has been painted black for 3 years with no problems :thumbup
Plus these old bones can't cope with full tuck anyway :hammer: :lol

:lolok.. i posted earlier, and as would would have it, i have an update.
like i said, been riding for a few years on two bikes with painted screens without any problems. never even thought it would even be an issue. that being said... i got pulled over (for the first time ever on the R1, mind you) tonight on my way down to denver on i25 by colorado HP. having just installed my speedohealer 2 nights earlier, and actually knowing my speed, i was certain i was only going 77 (in a 75). he came up, young guy, maybe 23. and he said " i pulled you over for a few things. first, your windscreen is tinted way dark, and your riding with a tinted faceshield. cant do both." lol i said, well its painted actually, but i dont get that low. he kinda laughed and said he used to race 600rr"s. then he said.. have to have at least a driver side mirror.. and my plate needs to extend off the back of the bike, not the pass pegs. and it needs a light. it was about 6 pm.. still light. um.. then he got me on having headphones in.. said i cant have both in at one time. i kinda bs'ed with him and told him ive never been pulled over but would fix what he wanted. he was super cool about it, we chatted some more, he ran my info and checked my vin.. making sure not stolen. then said well, have fun and didnt even give me a warning. haha just thought i would share since yesterday or so, i said i would laugh if i ever got pulled over for a painted windscreen. i did laugh by the way.. and so did the trooper. dont let this change your mind, i just thought it was way funny and though i would share. :lol:lol

haha thanks for the story! Im new to the forums and have read ALOT of past posts for all my questions instead of making new threads, and thanks all for your input. Either way I was gonna paint the wind screen, I just wanted to know what the O' Mighty law on it was :lol
