synthetic oil after 600 miles?

is it ok to use synthetic oil for my first oil change? or should i wait till i have a few more miles on the bike

I put in synthetic at my 600 mi change and have over 6000 now (09 R1) - no problems. Do a search and you will find differences of opinions on this subject.
