Machsurfer 02-09-2003, 09:34 PM Good Evening,
Hey everyone, looking for some opinions from R1 pros... Not to be sacreligious and mention another bike manufacturer in this forum, but I used to own an F2 and had a muzzy slip-on. I really like the sound of it. The idle and low end RPM was what really impressed me with the Muzzy. It didn't have a powerful high end scream like the Yoshi on my buddies bike, but that didn't bother me at all. I'm not too concerned with the performance ramifications of the pipe since I am strictly a leisure rider.
Ok, so enough blabbering. What slip on does everyone like and can anyone make any comparisons to a Muzzy since that and Yoshi are really the only ones that I am familiar with? I have been reading quite a bit about the Akarapovic(sp?), but most of the references are to the performance increase... How does it sound and is it designed to work well with the R1?
Thanks a bunch for everyone's opinion and I am looking forward to reading them!
Cheers,
Dominik (soon to be R1 owner...)
My persnal preferance for a slip on is a Lamb Skin french tickler...but thats just me:lol

Welcome. I have the 2 Bros. slip on but I think for the next bike it might be an Akra or a Micron
Machsurfer 02-10-2003, 03:14 PM Thanks for all the replies... Lambskin, lol... I think the R1 would look kind of funny with one of those one it. Of course it would be unique :lol
I think I'll probably go with the high mount Micron. Blue fade or scorched. The high mount looks sweet!
Thanks again for the replies...
Cheers,
Dominik

I had the Wileyco slip-on and it sounded sweet up in the revs and mellow below 6000rpm. My friend has a Yosh and that thing sound down right mean at any RPM.
R1CornerMaster 02-14-2003, 06:43 PM I got a Devil shotgun slip-on, and it is sweet. It has two small cans so it gives it a nice sound @ any rpm. The only bad thing is you have to loose the stock turnsignals, but its not like thats a bad thing:rock
Rtech 02-14-2003, 10:27 PM Would like input as to what others think. I have the choice of these 2 slip ons for my 2001 R1 and am looking for feed back PLEASE HELP!!!
ScorpionR1 02-14-2003, 10:35 PM Machsurfer.......:hellobye..........welcome aboard sir.

Here she is again, tanning at the Jersey shore......DEVIL style.......:sneaky
Blue Widow 02-14-2003, 10:53 PM I love my micron, but in my opinion their high mount sticks out too far behind the bike and the can looks too big to be that high. The devil looks realy good high mounted so does hindle.
RUFFSTUFF 02-14-2003, 11:07 PM D&D for me...........

RacinJason 03-12-2003, 10:05 PM I just got a 2 brotheres racing slip on i like it a lot so far its one of the cooleste looking pipes check out the 2 bro X metal high mount bolts on clean and sounds deep not loud.
nuihc01 03-14-2003, 10:49 AM I went with Akro Carbon Fiber. Sound is cool and not too loud. A little pricey though.

Yes it does. All the hardware is included with the slip on. I dont do much 2 up riding, so I will put them on only when I need them:hellobye

I love Black Widow products.. PM me any questions you have
03R1stuNNa 04-04-2003, 07:38 AM I ride a high mount micron....has a deep mellow sound at low rpms but is a high squeeler in the high revs....you keep pegs but lose signals....some say it is too big of a can but I kinda like it
R1MINI 04-15-2003, 05:13 PM I like my Laser Hotcam Hi-Level slip-on. Sounds nice and deep and seems to pull stronger mid range. Had this R1 dyno'd at 152BHP at the crank. Stock except for can. :D
ssman 04-16-2003, 02:30 AM Akarapovic
2003-R1 04-16-2003, 04:57 AM I love my micron. I have D&D on my other bike but its wayyy too loud for my taste...But my friend was getting on it down my neighborhood and it kinda sounded tight..but still wayyy too loud.

45 Please 04-19-2003, 12:12 AM I would not get a slip-on.
I have a Two Brothers, but I WISH I had just spent the extra 200 bones and got the full Arata or Akrapovic.
Full is the way to go I suppose...
Dave2001R1 04-20-2003, 03:41 PM Full Yosh gave me 12.6hp more at the rear wheel slip on 2hp.
Mackz 04-20-2003, 03:50 PM Cool pipes ladies. :thumbup
wasted 04-20-2003, 03:55 PM Akra slip on plus R & G frame sliders:D
Hi!
I'm relatively new to the R1 & new to this forum.
This is an excellent thread though, as my stock silencer has got to go, and seeing the pictures of what your cans look like on your bikes is a great help.
I really like the titanium akaprovic - although the micron high mount has caught me eye a bit.
BYe!

02YZF-R1 05-13-2003, 12:56 AM SATO RACING for me...
Kelial 05-13-2003, 01:07 AM I like my Micron. Sounds great, and it evened out the power band. I don't care if it doesn't add a bunch of ponies. The 1 is plenty fast, and I don't race.
prnstar123 05-22-2003, 08:53 AM im looking for more peformance in my low to mid range but just want to add a slip on not full I like the exup system. can anyone point me in the right direction and if possible have dyno graph showing differance from stock. thxs
EPD1056 05-22-2003, 09:18 AM Sorry guys i am also new and i do not hve the slightest idea how to even post anything!!! Any input on the GYT-R...I have a source that says Yamaha is getting them fork Ak!?
Thanks...
2003 Black / Red R1
prnstar - I can't remember which one - but if you click on one of the dealers ad banners that are on this site - I did download a graph for the Akra Slip On.
Basically in torque & bhp it was always the same or higher compared to the stock item.
Since I posted at the top of this page - I have since purchased the Akra slip on TI for my bike.
