Looneybomber 02-12-2003, 05:11 PM Wrote this for everyone looking for stands and cant decide what to buy.
Price: 150 shipped
shipping time: 2 days
Ordered? Front (pins) and Rear (Spooled) stands.
http://www.slickrods.com/gallery/test/AbbieStandPic3.jpg
Pros: Solid construction. (Rear is rock solid, the front will wiggle cuz your forks r not locked from turning)
Adjustable rear width (to be expected).
U can push the bike around while on the stands (Not responsible if u mess up and your bike falls though :D )
No bends in stressed areas (look at the pic) Its like a pitbull, the weight goes strait down to the wheels through an unbent bar, Keeps it strong, no weak links.
No trimming of the front to get it to work with the 98-01 R1 forks (just take out that 6mm screw on the right side fork leg.
150 shipped for both front and rear stands
LIFETIME WARRENTY!
http://www.slickrods.com/gallery/test/PairSp.jpg
Cons: I gota rubber coat the pieces that touch my bike...that way if I accidently hit my frame, rotors or body, it wont mess them up (But id have to rubber coat nearly every other stand too)
Things im guna do to them: They come painted black so im guna get some spray paint, tape off some designs and add some red and white to them so they match my R1. But before that im guna take a dremel and round off some corners so they look pretty :)
Would i recommend these to anyone?: Hell ya! For the money they r great! So if youre wonderin what stands to get...type www.redlinestands.com Tell Ian youre an R1-forum member and u can get the spooled stands for the Non-spooled price.

ROCKAFELLA 02-24-2003, 04:02 PM I use pitbull only
steve1000 02-25-2003, 03:24 PM I just got a set of the redline stands. I got them in 3 days. They
seem very strong and my bike did not wiggle at all on the stands.
I am very happy with them and would recommend them to others.
R1SpeedMaster 02-25-2003, 03:35 PM Good God! Does that girl come with them!?!?!?:boobies :boobies :boobies
R1formetoo 02-26-2003, 11:56 AM Hey man, if you choose to pay more than twice my price for that zinc coating and use Pit Bull only, thats up to you, its your money. But my stands still rock!

R1formetoo 03-28-2003, 05:27 PM I'd like to ask you fellas to go to kowatools.com and have a look at these new stands of theirs and give me your honest opinion. What do you think of the product? Would you trust / buy one?

joe-yamma 04-04-2003, 02:12 PM those look exactly like handy stands.
handy stands are good for the $$$, but i bought a pit bull and i love it.
ian, do you plan on making a front stand that lifts from the steering stem?
i really don't care for the forklift front stands.

ltyson 04-04-2003, 02:42 PM Ian, I have the Kowa stands and they work perfect. I am very happy with them and the bike is rock solid on them.

R1formetoo 04-04-2003, 04:49 PM I plan to offer a headstock stand in the future but no time soon. Also, I'd like to say that there are major differences between my stands and Handy, Kowa stands. The steel is twice the thickness of Kowa and Handy stands, making them much more capable of serious loads. I would have to imagine that some guy in america somewhere with a 500 lb. busa probably posed his girlfriend on his motorcycle for a picture, and if that be the case, I would not want to try it on a very thin stand. Thanks for your input guys and I'll list the differences, as I see them, below between my stands and Kowa, Handy stands.
1/2 inch bigger tubing
thicker tubing
lifetime warranty
made in america
hand made
fully welded
no cheap quick nuts, I use nylon insert nuts
wider stance
excellent tech support :rock
Spool/Roller interchangeable
R1/R6 compatible front stand
I realize that some stands, like Handy, do incorporate a few of my special options listed above so I'll give credit there.

pollutionx 08-25-2003, 08:44 AM Just recieved my Redline Stands. I am very pleased with them. They are very sturdy and well constructed. Shipping was hella fast and for the money, I don't think you'll find a better stand. I am in the process of painting them, so when I'm done I'll post some pics. Props to Ian @ Redline Stands.

R1formetoo 09-16-2003, 11:02 AM Hold the phone Jack, I run Redline Engineering at www.redlinestands.com and those are not our stands and that isn't our website. Not to mention our stands cost considerably less than theirs. And yes, our tubing is also thicker than pitbull's. However, you are not figuring in cross sectional area or moment arms here. You can not just compare thick tubing to thin tubing of different sizes and say, "wow, thats better." Its more complicated than that, but nice observation.

svman00 09-16-2003, 11:26 AM How do your stands cost less than theirs?? You sell a roller type rear stand and front stand for $141.97 when they are in painted form and they sell theirs for $139.95 in painted form. Plus, you want a standard fee of $19.99 for shipping one stand or $29.99 for shipping two stands, and Heindl Engineering only charges the customer the actual shipping cost, which could be up to a $10 savings for some customers over the flat rate that you charge.
R1formetoo 09-16-2003, 12:30 PM Our stands are currently $144.96 to your door so I guess they have me beat by $5. My only thoughts is that they must not sell a huge amount of stands because if I did shipping qoutes on every order there wouldn't even be time to make the stands, or so it seems.

Tubbed S-10 09-16-2003, 12:37 PM I think svman00 is just trying to sell his stands. I'll be ordering some redline ones when the time comes.
R1formetoo 09-16-2003, 01:59 PM Oh, by the way sv, two things. If you charge $139.99 plus shipping then you don't have us beat in price and also, you should sponsor a site before advertising on it. Not trying to give you a rash, your just going about this the wrong way.

i agree.
i'm gonna order yours tonight. i'm just having a hard time deciding which ones to order.
i based my decision to order from you, on the fact that you're a supporter of this site, and as well... a contributor to the forum postings.
R1formetoo 09-17-2003, 05:46 AM Well thanks, my advice, our bare metal pair of stands with spool style rear is on sale right now at $114.96 and is definitely the best bang for your buck on our site. Thanks.

2wheeledterror 09-17-2003, 06:04 AM I'm considering getting a pair of stands and would like a little more info. What size tubing are Redline stands? The other ones sv mentioned say they are 1 1/2" 0.083 wall tube. These also come painted standard for $139.99 plus shipping, where redlines are $119.98+ 21.99 for powder coating, plus shipping. So if they can ship for less than $30, they are in fact less expensive.
Thicker tubing (assuming equal steal quality) means less chance of bending and also directly goes to cross sectional area. Area of a circle is Pi*R^2, so cross sectional area of a tube is (Pi*R[outerwall]^2)-(Pi*R[innerwall]^2)
Also, moment arms in the weld areas are a function of diameter and force. Example: Stand a wooden pencil up on your desk. Now push it over. Now imagine a tube the same length as the pencil, but lets say 12" in diameter. It takes a lot more force to push over, if it can be done at all.
I'm not clear why you think these numbers aren't important to know...........
R1formetoo 09-17-2003, 06:54 AM My tubing is 1in. shedule 40 so the outside dia. is around 1 3/8 or so inches. My advice, our stands have yet to fail on a customer structurally with some 800 sold so far, trust us. Also, our bare pair with spooled rear is on sale right now at $114.96 Please call with any other questions.

dudeguy 09-30-2003, 07:12 PM I can't tell for sure, but it looks like those are swingarm sliders in the picture on page 1. Will the rear stand work with sliders, or are sliders too big?
Also, will I be able to remove the front wheel using the front stand?
R1formetoo 09-30-2003, 09:25 PM Well, the red R
R1formetoo 09-30-2003, 09:27 PM Sorry, hit enter too early, the R1 pictured on my site has spools. From what I've found, basically all swingarm sliders will serve as spools just fine. And yes, you will be able to remove the front wheel.

AZScorpion 07-14-2004, 02:18 PM I love my Redline Stands!!! My 03 is rock solid on them even in the front. I can roll the bike around... do whatever I want. They're thick, sturdy and heavy. IMO they're over-engineered which is nice!
Yeah they're not as pretty as some painted/powder coated stands, but I was more concerned with price & stability. If those are your hot buttons, these are an extremely good buy!
Here's an old pic:
MegatronR1 07-14-2004, 02:24 PM I have a Redline front stand and it :rock :rock :rock !! Very sturdy and stable, I feel very secure when my bike is held up by it. :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup
igottaride 07-14-2004, 08:23 PM I have the Handy Stands front and rear stand package now and they seem like a great deal.
I am not a professional mechanic who needs an Industrial Grade Pit Bull at industrial grade prices.
I just want to clean the bike, lube the chain and do other routine maintenance without having to go through the hassle of always adjusting the bike or asking one of my non riding neighbors for a hand.
These stands are working absolutely fine for those purposes.
Am I alone in thinking this?

No, not really, Handy makes a decent product. They just have limitations, thats all. They aren't made in the U.S., they don't have a lifetime warranty, you can't speak to the guy who makes them at 11 p.m. on a Sunday night, and they are not quite as stable as say a Redline, Pit-Bull, or Power stand.
