Maby Irode a strong 6 but it did not seem weak on the bottem. Love the 6 handeling and powre up to about 140 when it starts to run out of juce. I think the R1 is a little better road bike just because of the less shifting cant wait to try out a 2002 I would go for one in a heart beat if I want into racing.

Gurr;
I had a 98 ZX-9R myself and just purchased a 2001 R1. I haven't taken it out for any street rides yet, but I've run it around the parking lot a bit (big parking lot, close to a third of a mile long) Several comparisons I can draw from my little riding...
The R1 comes up MUCH easier then the 9R did. It's more then just the power and weight. The weight distribution is different on the R1. I thought I was easing my way into the R1 and my first trip brought the front wheel up unexpectedly.
The R1 brakes are MUCH better then the 9R. They bite real easy and require much less pressure on the lever. Endos are very easier on an R1.
The turn in is quicker, obviously. But beyond that, low speed mobility is more sensitive on the R1. At speeds below 15mph the steering on the R1 was a lot more sensitive to input then on my 9R. It's nothing bad, it was just different. For the first few minutes on the R1, I felt almost like I had never ridden at low speeds. After half a dozen trips around the lot, I had things well under control though.
My recommendation. If you're coming from a ZX-9R, don't go to the R6. You'll be disappointed in a matter of weeks, if not days. I highly recommend the R1. I also highly recommend a steering dampener as well.
Happy riding.

Had both and would very highly recommend the R1 over the R6. Power is totally different, sold the R6 because it didn't have enough power- I prefer not to have to drive at 8000 RPM's to have some juice. Granted the R6 was a cornering machine but I'd take the feel of some serious G's over the cornering ability anytime. Buy used if you need to but definately buy the R1!:cool:

I bought my R6 thinking that it would be all that I would ever need. And honestly it probably was. However here I am 2 years later without the R6 and with the R1. I miss the R6, but everytime I ride my R1 I miss it a little less.
The R6 is more nimble and has enough power to hang with anyone in the corners (if you can it can). If you are going to try to take a liter bike off the line you better be a lot better than the other guy. The biggest difference is the feel. My buddy still has his R6, when we were riding side by side on the freeway he had to downsift twice to hang with me on a top gear roll on, and I never crossed 6K RPM. The R6 feels awesome in the corners and inspires incredible confidence. The R1 feels damn fine in the corners and has the power on tap at any moment to let you know who is boss.
I disagree with jRaskell, I don't think that you will be disappointed with the R6 ever, I just think that you might be more impressed with the R1.

To be honest, I don't think I'll be using my R6 much anymore. My '02 R1 handles as well, with better suspension, better brakes, and it seems to have a little extra grunt in the bottom end :eek:
I too agree that going down from a ZX9 would probably make you feel like the R6 was pretty thin. Of course, I think my R1 has more than enough....
Of course, if you really want an R6, I may have one for sale....

Let me revise my statement slightly, you'll be disappointed with the R6s power. The R6 walks all over the 9R from a handling point of view, and is far lighter. that is definitely a distinction I should have made in the beginning.
thanks you guys just the kind of answer i wanted i will go whit the r1 gonna pick it up in 1-2 weeks
