I have never tried Suomy so I can't comment on them, but you can't go wrong with Shoei or Arai and you're choice between the two should be based on fit. I have the Arai Quantum /f and RX7-RR4 and both are great.

ARAI every time! You only realise how good they are when you switch to another brand. I wear my wife's Shark Carl Fogarty rep and I tell ya, it's no contest.

They all fit slightly differently so try them on and see which fits your head well. :beer

Stay away from Helmets that don't vent air. Fogged up masks in traffic or anywhere suck. My wife lost one of her students, a high school kid, that way. His visor fogged up and didn't see the truck turn in front of him. Yeah, there are sprays etc one can use but an air vent is a requirement in my book.

Arai here... Well all these high end helmets pretty much are close to each other and shares the same specs and features, fit and comfortability is the one you need to find so I say go to the dealer and try them on and see w/c one fits you the best.

I'd go with the top of the line Arai or AGV... Shoeis have always been lacking in my experience but the XSPs look nice... Suomy's were like a wanna be RX7RR4... and run a size smaller..

I hate to get on the band wagon but once you get a arai it's hard to go back to anything else. 2nd choice if i had to would be a suomy spec 1r ;) ;)

For the Suomy Spec 1R, all I have are awesome things to say about it. I know I'll be a fan for a long time. I have about 150 miles with it and I don't think I could of bought a better helmet. :rock

I think most helmets out there have a similar fit. All but the Suomy. The Suomy is a very athletic helmet in size weight and fit. It is smaller and lighter then most helmets. The coolest thing about it, is the ability you have to keep your head on a swivel. I love the fit. It took a while to get used to because my chin felt exposed, but I never want to take it off now. And for my money, no one beats their graphics. Extremely aerodynamic with very little head shake at high speeds. I like the Arai, but if given the choice I would always take the Suomy.

The X-11 is probably the best helmet out there right now. It's head and shoulders above the old X-SP. Here's a review done by Helmet Harbor. http://www.helmetharbor.com/streethelmets/helmets/shoei/X11_eval.htm
