Is there any difference in silencer packing material? Specifically is there a certain type or brand that is better for absorbing noise or does a certain brand or material last longer? I have a GYTR exhaust and it is rediculously loud. I think the previous owner might have removed the packing or maybe repacked it before because the muffler body is no longer rivited together. It has allen screws holding it together now. I was told it comes rivited together.
Either way I am looking for something that will be quiet and last long any suggestions?

GYTR slipons are built kind of like race baffles, from the sound clips I have seen both tend to be pretty loud compaired to other brands, hell the GYTR slipons are louder than my akra full system. You could try to repack them but I'm not sure how much good that will do, only other option is to ditch them and go with a different brand like a set of akra or graves slipons. To my knoledge packing is packing, but I think the more you have in there the quieter they will be.

As far as I can tell you are right. I did a google image search for R1 GYTR exhaust and every single one I saw was held together with allen bolts. From my recent research it sounds like the GYTR is just one of those exhaust loud enough to wake to the dead.
Looks like I have a GYTR exhaust for trade now.

You could open it up and see what's inside packing wise. If it's not packed very tight and filled up it's gonna be very loud.
I'd suggest repacking with this material specifically, designed specifically for noise reduction and will last.

Just did my race baffles with it and it's pretty tame even with the 2.5'' core.

This man is correct. Silent Sport is the best and the only US authorized rep is the link he provided.
