(This is a write up I did for gixxer.com on my 2001 GSXR 750, the steps are basically the same for all bikes ;) ) Items needed: 1. Digi (Duh!) 2. Soldering iron(a thin one if posible), solder, heat sink. 3. Electrical tape. 4. Tools to remove the front end of the bike. 5. Reflector bracket from the front reflectors. 6. Plastic conduit. Ok...Here are my weapons as I prepare for war... First thing first. Find a comfortable place to work... For me I choose the kitchen because it is hot outside and the wife is out for the weekend. You could probrably get away with only taking off the windscreen but I went ahead and took off the entire front end. I didnt feel comfortable soldering on top of plastic. First thing first... Remove the spedo and peel back some of the plastic tubbing around it. Peel back as much as you think you need. Now for the fun part. The instructions tell you exactly which wire from the DiGi goes to whick wire that goes to the Spedo. All you have to do is find the right wire, put a slit into the insulation, and solder the wires togerther. The one thing that tossed me into a loop what what to do with the black wire (ground), well I attached it to the Black/White ground wire for the bike. Believe it or not, that is all there is to hooking this thing up. All that is left is mounting it on the bike itself. The instructions talk about mounting it on the spedo with the double sided take it somes with. There is even a picture of it on the box like that... Not me... I decided to take the bracket from one of my old front reflectors and bend that little sucker till the Digi was at the same angle as the spedo and mounted it on the top left screw that holds the head light. I had to cut a notch on the bracket to allow the cables that come out from the back of the Digi to pass through. I later painted it black.

Here is what it looks like when I first put it on. Here is a side view: Notice that I got just about the same angle as the spedo and the clutch lever does not hit it even with the handle barsturned all the way to the right. Here is the finished product

Programming is easy as pie! All you have to do is have the bike in Neutral, and the kill switch in run...then take the key to on so the spedo and the Digi light up. Then take the orange wire and ground it till the letter P comes up on the display. Now remove and re ground the orange wire till the display shows the number os gears you have (6) Now you can insulate and secure the orange wire [Big Grin] Start the bike. Put it in 1st and rev above 2000RPM... the number 1 will flash faster and faster till a single hosizontal line appears. Now go to second, stopping momentaraly in neutral to let the Digi recognize neutral. Repeat for the last 5 gears.

So i found some threads how mention this is where the yellow/white is .. But that should also be the same plug to disable the digital speedo part isn't it? When i unplug it it keeps working. Or does it just show the latest info but doesn't counts the mileage or something. I've taken the tank and fairings off for a new paintjob so i can't test if the digi or speedo plug do work.
