okay, so Ohlins is the popular one right? I was thinking about getting the Ohlins witha Harris mount kit. HWta do you guys think? What's good? I almost bough a Hyperpro...good thing I read the other post, i hear it sucks. But it's pretty cool that you can leave the steering loose and it will still tighten the steering more and more as the tank slapping get worse. anyway, so what do yo guys say? Ohlins it is?

Yeah a lot of my friends have the Ohlins and they swear by it. I would have love to get it but I just got a house and the cash was tight.

I asked the same question when I was at Dayton this weekend. Some of the racers had(From most to least) Sprint, ohlins and scotts. Most of the racers I talked to swear by Sprint, but if you want a Damper, you might as well get a good one! I have a Scotts damper and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I had a Hyperpro nottoo long ago, and now someone elses bike is wearing it. It SUCKED!!!

I use sprint...most racers will go for the cheapest that does the job and they do. Damn nice people to deal with as well. If I had unlimited cash I'd go for Ohlins, but it'd break my heart if I trashed it in a crash!

Go Ohlins!!! Scotts is great as well. Im sure there are others that are good as well but yo Ohlins..........need I say more? Indysuperbikes.com is the best price I can find with the Harris mount. 409.00 + shipping. Got a buddy with a Scotts on his 01 and he has not had a single problem and loves it.

I PREFERD SCOTTS OVER OHLINES FOR EASE OF USE AT HIGH SPEEDS. JUST PERSONAL OPINION THOUGH.

We have the harris mounts for ohlins and also the gold line damper. The kits are identical except for the damper clamp. The gold line damper is a fully adjustable damper but is less expensive (mainly due to not having the big name and not it's function) I have used one and it passed my test with flying colors. The gold line damper is also available in differant colored bodies as well. The mounting kits are the same price $159 but the gold line damper is $180 where the ohlins is $260 so you can do the Harris gold line kits for $339 to your door for forum members...The Harris/ohlins combos are $419 with free shipping for forum members....Check out the pictures on our site...

SCOTTS!!! Excellent performance and crash-damage resistant.

yes the ohlins is adjustable...Scotts is made by ohlins..Ohlins makes that for MX applications and scotts adapted it to road bikes....1 thing to ask yourself, how many race teams use the scotts? i can't think of any, they all use ohlins liner dampers...Just a thought i go by...Scotts is still a good product and a lot of riders like them...

I've had both Scotts and Ohlins and I prefer Ohlins (with Ohlins mount). I can't say one does a better job than the other. They both do a great job so you don't have to worry about buying a bad damper between these two. The Scotts allows for a higher degree of adjustment if that is important, but for most part, you'll be happy with the default settings. One thing I don't like about the Scotts is that it requires additional maintenance (i.e., oil changes and bleeding).

Go with Ohlins or a Sprint. Progressive dampers suck. :p

Racers do not need a Scotts, I doubt anyone would be playing with the adjustments between the corners. For the street you can't beat Scotts; Rebuildable, much less likely to be damaged in a crash, adjustable on the fly for changing road conditions or speeds, easy install (no drilling) allows for ease of maintanence (if you need to get under the tank). If nothing else... YAMAHA owns Ohlins... Ohlins builds Scotts.

So figure I paid about $460 each + shipping.

Can anyone tell me if the M. Toby damper is easy to install? I understand they make two styles of damper for my bike (2003 R1) and I'm interested in the one that mounts just in front of the gas tank. Does it require any drilling? Or, does it just mount on the gas tank bolts and middle bolt of the triple tree? Thanks...
