I've ordered it and have installed it. Here is my review of the whole process. I can't stress this enough when you get it. "GO SLOW ON THE INSTALLATION" Don't get in a big hurry. I purchased mine a www.tobefast.com Here's what I like about it: 1. The killer looks it has. 2. This tail totally cleans up the rear end of the bike. 3. The painted tail matches the factory Yamaha stock paint. 4. The fit is very good. 5. The quality and construction of the tail is execellent. 6. The double stick tape along with the 2 provided bolts hold the tail nicely. 7. The holes on the undertail match up great. 8. The tail has a single LED light that projectes light on the license plate. At first I thought it would not be much light, but it does a great job. The light shines a Blueish/White color that looks cool. 9. The turn signals flash amber but are clear just like the R1 stock tail light. Plus the amber is very brite. 10. Ok, now some things on the downside: 1. The instructions that I got with my tail sucked. I thought it was very vague. Plus, some of the words I couldn't even make out. I should have downloaded or called Mike at Mc Coy Motorsports for better instructions, but as said above I went very slow. 2. The cost. Damn, I can't believe I spent that much money on a little piece of plastic. 3. You will need to drill several small holes into the bottom of the stock Yamaha undertail after you remove it. This is to run the wires through to the new Next Undertail. 4. If you plan to use a license plate with the Next Undertail and you probably will, you'll need to drill 4 holes into your new Next Undertail(Ouch). The instructions never said or reccomended on how to do this, so I went out on my own. I retained the stock Yamaha license plate mounting bracket off the stock mud guard. It's held in place by 4 bolts under the passenger seat. You just line the holes up and drill into your new undertail. After you bolt on the stock license plate bracket you can't see any holes. Instead of using the stock 4 black bolts I bought 4 new stainless ones to match the new Next Undertail. It looks great this way. 5. You will lose those bungee strap clip holders that were under the stock blinkers on the rear of the bike next to the reflectors. 6. When you use the turn signals it will blink faster. This is because the LED lights use less current. If you have regular bulbs up front you will be ok, but still have the fast blinking. Now, if you have LED's up front you will have to rig up some resistance in the system. You can install a turn signal relay system. I think there is one made by leiber tech available or rig something up yourself. Again, I stress to go slowly and take a few breaks then come back to it. I spent about 4-5 hours on mine and went very slow so I wouldn't mess it up. I started on mine late Friday night then came back Saturday morning to finish it up. I'm very happy with the way my tail came out. I love the looks of it and do not regret buying it. I have plenty of pics available, so email me if you want some. email me at randall@strato.net

I too have this tail. You are right about taking your time though. What helped me, especially with the plate bracket is going to the actual web site and printing off the instructions. I think they are clearer on how to install the tail and give better pictures, especially if you have a color printer. The web site for this is www.turbobike.com Hope this helps a little.

The company that makes this fender eliminator is out of Quebec, Canada. The French can never get instructions right. The R1 tail looks nice though. I am thinking of getting the custom led version for my 03 R1. The turn signals are in the main brake light.
