Hey There All -
Just wonderin' if anyone has got the Alpinestars V4 2 piece and/or knows anything about it?
I'm thinkin' it may be a good move to get some leathers but with these I'm concerned about not having good ventilation - any experience with this?
Most of my rides are right around an hour long during hot & humid Wisconsin summers. I don't really plan on doing any regular track riding. I already ride with a Joe Rocket Atomic jacket (not leather). Givin' this sort of a riding pattern, do you think leathers are a good investment? Do people really suit up for 1 hr. cruises in 85 degree heat?
Many thanks for your feedback.
A.

Hey Alex,
You will find a variety of opinions here regarding to leather or not. While anything can happen when riding fast/hard, they can also happen when just cruising.
I own the Alpinestars P1 2 piece suit and the V4 would be a fantastic choice. AS makes full-grain, high quality suits no doubt.
My everyday gear of choice is Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket and pants, but there are many others. Would I do 150Mph in them almost kneedragging? no, because that's what the AS suit is for -on a track no less.
I won't ride in jeans and t-shirt....my attitude is if it's too hot to ride with a -mesh- jacket on, it's too hot to ride.
Point being....in dead hot, humid weather, nylon mesh gear provides the correct amount of protection for everyday riding, provided your riding isn't 120Mph stand-ups. ;) So, if you're not going to the track and it's hot, I'd hold on the money for some boots or some other tasty bike mod.

:iamwithst I agree with u 45ยบ But i also believe u cant beat the protection of leather. Right now im wanting to buy the AS bostrom jacket and track pants. (bostrom jacket is some what perferated so it should work in to some warmer temps) But for june-august (here its pretty damn warm then) Ill invest in either JR pheonix or Fieldsheer Airmesh stuff.
Hey alex, if u have the money id get leathers (perforated) and when it starts gettin cool out, wear a sweatshirt or something under it to help keep heat in...the leathers will be warmer than the air mesh jackets.
