How to: Removing FairingsPeters_77 02-27-2003, 03:51 PM I'm looking for some help fellas, any instructions on how to remove the upper fairings and nose picece/front. Peters_77 02-27-2003, 03:54 PM Can anyone give me some help on how to remove the upper and nose/front fairings? martinc 02-27-2003, 03:58 PM Got to start from the bottom!
-take off the lowers
-take off the small plastic parts under the clipons
-take off the mid panels (there may be screws inside(where the fork legs are)with small piece of plastic;at least there was some on earlier models
-take off the mirrors;on earlier models, there were 4 screws holding the upper to the light array, plus one hidden by the screen;got to take the screen off too.
this is for mine which is a 99;I"m sure the 02 have diff. setup, but it shouldnt be that far from it. Corny 02-27-2003, 04:01 PM Doh. Ignore me. I thought you said lowers and mids. lol
The foot on the gastank and pulling will work though. :lol justin_sievers 02-27-2003, 04:03 PM This is very simple. Remove the lowers and mids by simply removing the screws. This has to be done in my opinion to avoid scratching the mids later. Once the mids and lowers are off, remove the carbon fiber harness covers by removing the screws that hold them on. Once that is completed remove the mirrors and then there are only four screws that connect the headlight assembly to the upper fairing. Remove the four screws, the upper pulls off! Attached is a microfiche of all of the upper fairing assembly hardware to help you out. Corny 02-27-2003, 04:03 PM Or you could just ask Swedie :lol Seinfeld 02-27-2003, 04:04 PM I don't have a really good explanation right now but
if you look in your manual
it will give you the basic lowdown.
I am sure that someone will give a little more detailed
intruction if you run into trouble
:thumbup Seinfeld 02-27-2003, 04:05 PM Justin,
you are quick. Seinfeld 02-27-2003, 04:08 PM I should read before I write,
I thought you were looking to take off the mids and lowers
My bad. vdelgado28 06-12-2009, 09:29 PM hey guys, i'm new to the forum. a lot of good info here.
i just totalled my GSX-R 600 and stepped up to an 07 R1. :fork Love it and bought a lot of extras already but i'm having trouble taking off her fairings to install her flush turn signal lights. does anyone have a link that shows the assembly set up? i've taken off all the screws and plugs but i'm hesitant to break appart. not sure if their snap on/off pieces and if i can just break loose or if you have to un hook or something.
any help/direction would be great. thanks! steveWFL 06-12-2009, 09:48 PM hey guys, i'm new to the forum. a lot of good info here.
