: Video output problem
itsrep 02-27-2003, 08:54 PM now that we have an espesific section... i thought i'd give this one more try
I copied this from another post I pasted on some computer forum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a Verto Geforce 4 Ti 4400 not too long ago but I had some problems with it so they replaced it with an Asylum GF 4 Ti 4600.
Now the thing is, when I had the 4400 I was able to set my HDTV to display 1024 x768 through an S-video with no problems, cloning, spanning, etc... one problem with that was that I would see small moving lines over the brighter areas but that would go away when I changed the resolution down to 800x600 and back to 1024x768 again.
With this new card, I cant get it to display anything over 800x600 no matter what I do. I still see the little white lines but its also not clearing up, so I think thats because I cant change it to a highter resolution.
Ive tried the newest driver, the driver that I was using with the verto card, and the driver that came with the asylum card but nothing seems to work... I also tried a bunch of forums and also tried emailing the manufacture with no luck
Btw I also tried it with different cables and on a different TV with S-video in but since its not an HDTV I wasnt expecting a high resolution.
thanks
Wolf-R1 03-02-2003, 08:13 AM Sounds to me like it could be a couple of things.
1) that card is FUBAR, just like the last one.
2) your PSU isn't supplying enough juice to the systemboard and the enormous amounts of power that your vid needs it isn't getting. Of course...your vid doesn't really need that juice unless it's doing intensive 3D stuff.
orgnoi1 03-02-2003, 08:15 AM Did you also get the latest MB and Sound drivers?...Believe it or not THEY can make the Video drivers act up if not all updated... (from experience)
itsrep 03-02-2003, 12:03 PM Hmmm. Im not really doing anyhting intensive with this card I haven't played any games on it either so I dont think that would be it. I'll take a look in the asus site for some updates, for the mobo and audio. I always thought it was something like a compatibility between the TV codec on the videocard which is a philips 7108 and the Panasonic Tau, Since the verto card probably had a different TV codec it detected my TV as HDTV.
I know since they gave me an asylum card, asylum is probably not a very good manufacture for the Geforce 4 cards cause I think they wouldn't give me the most expensive 4600 out there.

Indeed they can. I assumed that since he's already been working on it for a while that he's already done that.
you have haven't you?
itsrep 03-04-2003, 11:10 PM I'm pretty sure I have the latest sound driver but im not sure about the mobo.. its an asus a7v333, any of you know where i can get the latest? I cant find it on the asus site cause im retarded

Get the latest 4 in 1's from VIA -->
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2
itsrep 03-05-2003, 09:25 AM um... which one exactly is the one for the asus boards? I see a lot of 4 in 1's.. any of he via drivers would work?
Grifter 03-05-2003, 09:27 AM not this again... not for nothing, but you are not putting out a HD signal from your pc to your tv with s-video
Grifter 03-05-2003, 09:31 AM your HDTV runs at 3 resolutions at best.... 480i or 720p or 1080i with the later 2 being HDTV, and s-video doesnt carry HDTV bandwidth, out putting to your tv at 1024 x 768 doesnt mean thats what the tv is displaying it at, your card dumbs it down and dithers it to make it look better

As long as it's a VIA chipset then any VIA driver should work fine for you. Asus doesn't do anything specific to where you need their drivers.
I have both the A7V133 and the A7V266-E and I always install the VIA drivers. In fact, your Asus CD would have an older version of these drivers on it I would bet.
itsrep 03-05-2003, 11:53 AM I never said I was trying to get HDTV signal from the computer, HDTVs can display computer signals at 1024x768 though S-video because i've done that, and also if you go read about most Ti cards it says the maximum TV display resolution.
Grifter 03-05-2003, 02:55 PM your tv doesnt support 1024x768 is that so hard to follow? somebody else wanna try to explain this to him?
itsrep 03-05-2003, 10:54 PM I'm not here to try to get you to believe that I can get 1024x768 from the computer to the TV, If I wasn’t able to do it with the Verto 4400 in the first place, I wouldn’t be making a big fuss over getting it to display that resolution now. It’s a Panasonic Tau HDTV if you want to look up what they support then be my guest but I just posted the question again because I felt that more people with computer experience would read it after they put up this section, not hurting anyone by reposting this. If you have an HDTV and a video card that supports that output then try it for yourself.
Grifter 03-06-2003, 06:14 AM Well see I am trying to get you to believe you are truely misguided, only because I want to help you understand, but it seems all my efforts are lost.
HDTV Display Capability
Determines the types of high definition signals that a TV is capable of displaying. An HDTV monitor can accept and display signals in either 480p or 1080i format. Some models can also accept 720p.
That is taken right from the description of your TV.. dont know what else to tell you. Good luck and I hope the glitches go away....
DrEvil 03-06-2003, 10:47 AM Ugh this thread still? Man I guess somethings never change...Or go away.
itsrep 03-06-2003, 01:07 PM Ok, man w/e. All I know is that the 4400 was displaying everything my monitor was when I cloned it and my monitor was in 1024 resolution. I noticed when I got the new card and I went to clone it that my monitor stayed 1024 but the TV cut some of the screen off and it never did that before (and all this time my monitor has been in 1024x768 resolution not 800x600)
thanx everyone, for the help
