I had a pre jan 2002 hyperpro damper. Well it started to leak, put up with it for a bit then it got squishy (air inside it), I pulled it off and made a tool and pulled it apart. My distributor told me I could buy a seal kit. I took the original seals to a seal company rep and was told that these seals were not suitable for the application. I was pretty pissed off. Got on the net and wrote a stinging letter to hyperpro. Anyways a day or two later I get a reply......Hyperpro tells me that my claims were correct and that they acknowledge the pre jan '02 dampers had a sealing design fault and they have re-designed the seals. I was told to send my damper to the distributor and I would be given a brand new unit no charge. He was very apologetic. Well I was pretty surprised with that. Unfortunately my distributor didnt have the colour I wanted (yes I had a choice), and I gotta wait for the next shipment. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks. I must admit I was very pissed about the damper leaking but the support I got was very, very good. I hope the new one is more reliable.

I had a similar problem with Hyperpro, my bracket developed three cracks and when l rang the distributer they said it was to old to be replaced free of charge(11mths old). After seven weeks they ended up sending me a new one only after eleven calls. To top it off the bolt that holds the dampner above the tank snapped and dinted and chipped the tank. What did they do about this?NOTHING. Anyway learned my lesson and will buy Ohlins next time.
