Yup I even want more speed from my DSL connection so can I install a PCIII or possibly a full Ti exhaust system!! or better yet some NOS?
On a more serious note I've just got my slow a** hooked up to DSL a few days ago and am wondering if I can do anything on my end for faster speed?? my latest test from 2wire.com was 172kbps. When I order the DSL i was informed that because I am soo far from the main connection my speed would be sacrificed, so I'm not sure what to think at this point......

yes, the distance from the hub will slow you down...
I am pulling 1.5 from my DSL...the hub is one block away....

Your download speed : 1715 kbps
Your upload speed : 240 kbps
Nothing you can do on your end.. other than change service or move..

I just did yet another test and it increased to 231kbps, so it certainly changes each and every time you boot up. I was also informed that depending on how busy the system is it will have an effect on it as well.:(
Solidus my uneducated guess would be thats a very good connection :( bastards anyway;)

At my in-laws I get 1472000bps. What does that mean?
Does it mean 1472kbps?
I hope my DSL at home will get that speed. I just found out I will need professional install because of the alarm system in my apartment.
They have to put a splitter at the INI and run the CAT 5 cable to the modem then to the computer. Does that sound right?

Your speed depends on a number of factors mainly line noise and signal strength. Both of which can be affected by your distance to the DLSAM or "hub" as it was referred to.
There is also something that Qwest has been doing here in the Denver area that kills DLS latencies and it's called "Septed DSLAMS". Where they have to daisy chain them to the CO in order to get DSL out to a specific area.
