I am looking into the Carbon Fang suit.. Anyone know anything about Fieldsheer? Looks like it would be fine.. I am also looking into Alpinestars and Joe Rocket, but, I already have a Dainese jacket and I dont want to spend a ton on a suit, because it may only be worn about 10 times a year. I was going to get the Dainese pants to zip to my jacket, but why pay $450 for pants when I can get a full suit for a little more.
Thanks for the help.
The Fieldsheer suit I am looking at can be seen here:

I've got a two piece Fieldsheer setup. Overall, I am happy with the setup, especially for the money. However, I will say that the quality is not as good as some of the others out there. I've had a few non vital threads come loose and the color on my pants is already wearing off. I do feel that I will be protected in case of a crash, but that this gear will not look 'perfect' for long...
Hope that helps.

If you're looking for something at a reasonable price. Joe rocket would not be a bad choice at all.

I am still in the process of trying to decide. I have always liked Alpinestars and have some of their gear. I might wait and try to get something off ebay. I dont think I can go wrong any way I go. I wish I had the money right now, because I just found this:

That suit retails for $800...

My Fieldsheer one piece is my first and I got it about 4 months ago so I don't have anything else to compare it to. Got it for $225 on ebay and mainly decided on it cuz I couldn't pass up the price. I know there are more durable and comfortable suits out there but I'm pretty happy with it. Put this way. I'm not UNhappy with it. Probably keep it for quite a while unless I lose a lot of weight. Probably ain't gonna happen. Just lose fat and gain muscle.
Don't think that helps too much does it?

Leathers is one of those categories where "you get what you pay for" is applicable, to some extent. When I was looking for leathers I made up my "$600" rule. Most leathers above $600 are very good and have similar qualities. Styling, bells and whistles, and name brand seem to be the biggest difference. Below $600, is a total mess. You have everything from very good quality to total shit. You really have to be careful in this range. I chose (being on a Navy budget) to take my chances in the <$600 zone. I decided to get the Teknic Chicane, so then I was left to search for the best price. Most places retail on this suit at about $499. I found it at NewEnough.com for $319, but then I chanced upon a brand new set from a dealer in Florida on E-bay for $260 shipped. Yes, it is not the same quality as a Vanson, Kushitani, or Dainese but it is still very good. And hell, it cost me over $60 less than my Joe Rocket LightSpeed jacket!
If you have the opportunity to check out different leathers before you buy, I would recommend it. That way you can make your decision based on several important factors.......

I have a set of one piece Fieldsheer leathers, they look like the old style Ku****anis in red and white if you remember them?
I have the odd pulled thread and the lining is almost ripped out and the white colour is looking abit thin I don,t think they will last more than 1or 2 years longer. So overall I don't think the white dye lasted more than 14 to15 years. But 18years service is ok I think I got good value for my money as they still get used 20 odd times a year. I think I will have a custom set now that I have saved all that money on not buying leathers for this long.As they have had a hard life being used for racing for the first 3 years and then for road use the rest of the time. But now my wife says their RETRO I now say that they are FCukED.So if you are after some short term use leathers 10to15years they are ok.

I have a Fieldsheer 2 piece. About 4 years old...I'm VERY happy with it. It's adjusted to my body and is of high quality. The only thing I'm not happy about is my pant pads are very thick. I feel like a hockey goalie and a super hero at the same time. On the upside...it's safe....and nice thick leather.

I've had Fieldsheer 1 peice and it held up great for about 3 years even after I took a spill. It was a little heavy but hey, it saved my a$$. Right now I have a Dianese and it's a little tight but it makes me feel very safe riding in it, not too heavy either. Thought about selling it and saving it up for a new Alpinestars

Yeah, I was wondering why morepower was censoring the name of that particular manufacturer... until I realized what the ****ty censorware was doing! Is there a way to exclude Ku****ani from the list of banned wordz?
