Review of 3 different helmets.

I'm going to review pros and cons of these 3 helmets..... Arai RX7 Corsair, Shoei RF900 Blade, and the HJC CL-12. I have X-Larges for all 3 cuz of my melon head. Arai Pros: Lighter then the other two. It is lighter than the other two, which to me doesnt tire your neck as soon. There is no possible way you could sweat in this helmet. There are vents coming out the ass on this helemet. There are a total of 9 different vents on this helmet. Arai Cons: With all the different vents...its the loudest of the 3 when riding. The face shield is a little harder to change then the other 2. I'm sure changing it a few times...I will get the hang of it. It has a breath deflector...which IMO doesnt go shiat. The price. Shoei Pros: Quietest of the 3 helmets. Its like night and day from the Arai. Decent ventilation, and easy to swap out the shield. Not to shabby of a price. Shoei cons: Not as light as the Arai, and seems alittle heavier then the HJC. HJC Pros: The price, average ventilation. A little lighter then the Shoei. Easy to swap out the shield. HJC Cons: The shield flips up whenever I turn my head, which is a major concern. All in all...they all are Snell and DOT approved. If I had to pick just one to ride with.....It would be the Shoei. Hope this helps just one person who has some questions about helmets.

TerminatorR1, I am a YZF600R rider in FL, and due to it always being HOT and HUMID I need a good ventilation helmet. Is the Arai RX7 that good??? I'll pay more $$ for a dry head when showing up to work all sweaty???

Cant comment on any other brands...but of the 3 listed above...it is by far the best ventilated. Like I said...there are 9 different vents.

Thanks for the response! Ordered an RR4 today, found a great deal at Brocktoncycle.com. Should be here in the next couple of days, cannot wait!

Finally got my ARAI today and LOVE IT!!! Took a ride with the girlfriend down to Jensen Beach, was warm but very cool inside my RX7-RR4. With all those vents yo don't sweat in there at all. It is a little on the loud side, but it is worth it!!

I have an Arai RR4 and have worn the Shoei RF-900 in the past. I like both helmets a lot. The RR4 is louder than the Shoei, but seems cooler, and doesn't fog like the Shoei would do. I like the liner better in the RR4, but the padding in the RF900 is very nice and soft in a wreck. Either helmet is great, just depends on what fits your head better. I wear a large RF900, and an XL RR4. My brother just got the Shoei TZ1, which is very nice too. It seems to run smaller than the RF900, has some removable liner bits, removable breath guard and chin guard. Very nice helmet, and the graphics are beautiful on it.

I've been riding with my ARAI RR4 for a couple of weeks now and have not been disappointed. Even on the warmest FL days, my balding head still stays cool, fit is excellent (med). Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a tinted visor for it??

The Arai is clearly the choice of the three here (if it fits your melon good). Just use some earplugs (as you should be anyways) and be on with it. BTW, I wear two Arai RX7-RR4's and I love them both (last years Haga and Doohan Replicas). I have been wearing Arai for over ten years now.

Also, when you say nine vents, are you talking intake and exhaust or just intake?

You'd be surprised how much more you'll enjoy riding with ear plugs. Plus it prevents hearing damage, which is nice. :beer
