Hi folks. Just bought a new Shoei Z1 but have a few minor probs, and looking to see if anyone else has experienced these... I'm finding the helmet very vibey at high speeds. Even with the chin curtain installed it can get very noisy in there at anything over 80mph. Now, this could be because of my screen (not double bubble). Because of the low screen this could be deflecting wind straight up inside the helmet causing the aforementioned probs. However, even when crouched down under the screen I still seem to experience the probs but to a slightly lesser degree. Anyone out there had a similar experience ? Cheers.

Hey Cameron:hellobye How snug is the helmet on your head? Only thing I can think of is that

Its very snug with it being new. I have a three year old Arai which is a lot looser - but dont really experience the noise / vibeyness with that. Although it has a different type of wind shield at the chin.

Helmets are noisy. The audio frequency content and sound pressure level of the wind noise in a helmet at cruising speeds and above is such that you are absolutely assured of cummulative and irreversible hearing loss. Get ear plugs immediately if you value your auditory acuity and want to ride. The following link has the best foam ear plugs with the highest NRR (noise reduction) you can buy, at 33dB. I have purchased from this on line company with confidence: http://www.omarksafety.com/category.cfm/acatid-62-aprodid-785-Howard_Leight_Corded_Max_30_Ear_Plug__33_NRR__100_Pr_Box.cfm The following link was provided courtesy of velocity 101 and lists the same plugs at a substantial discount as compared to the first link I provided, but I haven't ordered from this company, so I cannot yet vouch for their reliability. The ones you want are the non-corded, 200 pr/box: http://www.sharpesafety.com/catalog/product-display.php3?ID=110 Here is a recent thread pertaining to ear plugs: http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=32262

I tried one of the Shoei Z1's also and found it to be extremely noisy. To bad you didn't get to test ride it.
