hey velocity boy how about sharing some of that knowledge here. with lots of detail ie oven temp, time in oven , what compressor/pressuer you use, gloss factor, how you suspend the items in the oven,do you reclaim any used spray. :fact thought i would ask you as you seem to have good knowledge on the subject.
That would be cool! I've always wondered about that:hellobye

Well I'm no expert I just bought a kit from eastwood and started experimenting with parts. I first used a toaster oven to do small parts then are microwave went kaput and it was connected to the oven so we had to replace the whole thing and I got the oven. Also we have two garages and the back garage has a 220 line so I was able to hook up the oven back there. I have a lot of colors now and I was starting to mix some colors to get Yamaha blue but I never got around to finishing it but I was close. Ido have satin and gloss colors and I mixing them to get what I wanted. I also have clear gloss and clear satin and was using that for mixing with good results. I was curing the parts at 400 degrees for 20 minutes and I found out that it looks better when I would give it one heavy coat rather then two thin coats. If you have anymore questions just ask.

:crash this was done with some hi-temp powder
So when applying the powder, you hook up a negative charge right? For how long?

there is a clip that you attach and I just hold down the button the whole time I'm spraying the part.

you can't see it in the picture but there is a peice of aluminum coming up through the middle of the rim kepping it about 4 inches off of the grill.

how about reclaiming the powder velocity boy and what compressor do you use to blow the powder out the gun? and how about any warping from the heat at 400 to the aloy? how much powder does it take to do a wheel as an example?
you also said you use one thick coat as opposed to two thin coats but dont you get a orange peel effect when its applied to thick? i would love to know how long you spray an area to get an idea what you call one thick coat.
i ask these questions as i am into art and it would be very interesting for me to take this on board ;)
thanks for coming here.
if poss get some one to take a pic while you are spraying so i can see the distance used.
do you spray from side to side like a car paint sprayer would?
tell me more about this neg charge does it attract the spray dust and what happens once the charge is taken away does the powder become loose again?

I was wondering if ther is anything like touch up powder coat paint. I have some scratches on my swing arm and i don't know what to do with it except use a black marker.
