Can some one explain how to install the oem decals on the mid 01 fairings. I ordered them online the other day and expect them shortly, I have heard to use soapy water, but don't really know the full extent of it? thanks in advance.

i have put the r1 sign graphics on the back of bike.
1 make sure area is clean and dust and grease free.
2 fill 2/3rds clean bucket with warm water
3 add some washing up liquid to the bucket to make water nice and slippery
4 in a clean enviroment apply soapy water to plastic
5 apply sticker over wet slippy water on plastic( under NO circumstance should sticker be allowed to fall on floor and be contaminated)
6 move sticker in desired place
7 push and squeese all air bubbles out to the sides carefully with clever thumb and finger work without letting your hand slip causing sticker to crease.
8 check sticker say 20 mins later to make sure corners are stuck fast
9 do not ride for one day to allow good stick
10 enjoy your work and call yourself sticker master :)

IMO Find a sign shop and get them to do it.... The local sign shop would charge me about $40 and thats for the sticker and all. Just for labor I bet the guy could do it in 5 minutes no soapy water for about $5 give or take and if he fvcks it up he can make you a new one :bash

The sign shop will never do it dry. No way! Autobody shops and sign shops use the same liquid on the decals. It's green and slippery, probably a soapy substance in here, but I'm really not sure what it is. Either way, I would recommend having a professional do it if you've never done it before. The OEM decals are way too expensive to mess up on. I would only recommend doing it yourself it was a smaller project, then if you're comfortable, trying a project of this size.

Maybe the guy I go to is just good like that but he is a close riend and I've been up at his shop when he has done dozens of big stickers and I'ver only seen him fvck up one. He never has used soap, except to clean what he is working on BTW he did this while we were drinking beers one night.... W/ no soap or liquid or juice:2bitchsla

every one i know uses washing up liquide ( green and slimey) in warm water.i done mine myself and had no problems,
patients and clever thumb and finger work to take out the bubbles and make sure the sticker is lined up in the correct place.once the sticker is on the plastic it is gently slid into place.it is not really hard to do. never ever do it dry. the problems with doing it dry is
1. if sticker is in wrong place even by a couple of mil it looks bad and you cant have another go.
2 if you attempt another go the sticker will have a ripple effect where you peeled it of again.
3 the bubbles cannot be squeesed out dry and believe me there will be bubbles if only small ones,
4 if you do it dry you will mess up and try to get pins and shit to let the air out making it bad to worst.
